Just Wanted to Update My Email Address With Cashrewards

I am currently changing my email address and got to the point of wanting to change the email address linked to my Cash Rewards account.

Rather than using the existing 2FA or sending a verification email / SMS, I have been asked to provide a copy of photo ID and a bank statement. Not even MY BANK asked for that level of ID.

Am I the only one that thinks it is unacceptable to be asked to provide enough photo ID to have them open a bank account in my name when all I want to do is give them a current email address?

  • Just go to the Settings area in your CR account and you can update it there?

  • You can change your email via your account settings. I did it last year when I changed ISP and my email. I didn't have to supply any info at all.

    • When I try to change the email address via their website, it fails to send the 2FA token. When I click the "Resend" button, it reports the error "This user has deleted their account, so it can no longer be used."

Without knowing the circumstances of your enquiry, I can’t comment or make assumptions as to why you were asked to provide the info. However, please be aware you can update this yourself in My Settings. If you prefer, please PM me and I’ll help sort this out for you. Thank you.

  • That would be pretty extreme for just wanting to update an email address lol.

For those playing along at home, I have now been able to change my email address. It would appear that the switch from TOTP to SMS-based authentication meant that the 2FA needed to be reset.

    Thanks to tightarse for assisting.
