Looking for Beard Trimmer Recommendations

Could anyone recommend a beard trimmer that they are happy with? Had my eye on the Wahl WA9876-3412 but would appreciate any advice, purchased a different brand recently and it didn't last.

Make sure the Wahl is made in USA and not made in China. There's a significant quality and longevity difference.

I would recommend the Philips Oneblade QP6510, fantastic unit and well worth it.

    • Thank you! Does the Oneblade work well on longer beards?

      • I have found it struggles personally.

I have one of the Wahl Lithium ion trimmers and its fantastic. Barely have to charge the thing and it lasts weeks and weeks.

    • Fantastic! Does it work well on longer beards?

Don't have a longer beard myself but I am sure you can purchase longer guards depending on the length you want. If you're wanting to keep it considerably long maybe you step up into hair clipper territory as they would have longer guards? Just a guess have a chat to one of the stores they'd know but it'd be no problem they are plenty powerful.

if you have a long beard nothing beats clippers.

Is this the one you're talking about. It's $50 right now. I'm in the market for one as well.

    You shaving or styling?

I have a VS Beard Designer - you can get them on ebay from Shaver Shop for $130. The thing is bloody fantastic. It'll do up to 10mm and has 3x different cutting heads so you end up shaving fairly quickly and (most importantly) very evenly. I found that i can leave the beard for much longer than previously without it looking unkempt because the Beard Designer cuts evenly very evenly and cleanly, don't get random hairs sticking out at funny angles

It's also waterproof, has 40min charge, Lithium ion etc etc

it won't do a good job around the beard line though, you'd need a little trimmer for that

    • Thank you, that was very helpful!

  • I'm looking at the Wahl Barracuda Particularly the multi blade it's not cheap.

Has quite a bit of attachments and guards which goes upto 25mm which is what i'm mainly interested in and the additional blades it comes with…

Also apparently has a cutting length of 0.2mm which should be quite good for styling.

Couldn't really find a single product which can do it all besides this

Here's someone who trims their very long beard with the Aqua blade (I don't know what the difference is looks very similar)

  • Philips is good. As for other brands make sure you check which are waterproof or not
