Best Double Drawer Dishwasher Deal

I'm looking to buy a double drawer free standing dishwasher and looking for opinions on the best deals right now, seems there are fairly limited options, have identified the 3 brands below.

Seems there have been some much better deals on the Fisher and Paykel range previously but can't find anything good right now. Wondering how the quality of the omega or midea options would be compared to the fisher and paykel?

Omega 60cm Double Drawer Dishwasher $1399 good guys
Midea MDWDDSS Double Drawer Dishwasher $1499 (+$90 delivery)
Fisher and Paykel - various models/retailers around $1700

I think Fisher Paykel created the double drawer, if you are keen on it then go for F&P.

They are a bit prone to breakage due to the design though, why not go for a traditional dishwasher?

    • Not true, there is nothing wrong with the design. They break as much as any other brand or design.

  • All the double dishwashers give trouble.

Better off just buying a Miele and using the savings to pay for the $0.15 per wash extra it will cost in water and electricity of a standard dishwasher.

  • My dishwasher has the option to just wash the top shelf if you’re after smaller loads. It reduces the time, power and water consumption. It’s a Westinghouse WSF6606.

    • Thanks will check that out.

      • All good.

I’ve only done the half load once or twice. I tend to just load everything up to do one full load. I live alone too and some weeks I’ll wash every 5 days, others twice a day. Depends on how much I cook.

But I will say, I quite like the machine. There are about 8 options for the washing cycles (from 15 min/30 min to 2hr+), the booklet tells you how much water and power each cycle uses, and the top shelf can be lowered slightly to allow for taller things to go there (as it is often safer for plastics like water bottles and containers).

  • I live in a household of 2 people and was tempted to go down the double dishwasher option only to realise the reliability risk of doing so was quite high.

Ended up getting a $400 Euromaid DR-14s and couldn't be happier with 0 issues over 3 years, just look up the reviews. You'd be surprised how quickly you can fill one with a couple of pots and pans. Honestly would go a standard any day of the week.

    • You might be right, reviews for the fisher and paykel aren't good and can't find any reviews of the other brands.

  • Both Omega and Midea are entry level. Same performance as units $1000 cheaper. You're just paying for the "double drawer".

F&P are decent but are inherently unreliable and prone to faults, and have been for 15+ years.

Practically all name brands have a top drawer wash function. Keep in mind you'll likely only save 2-3 litres of water in total. Just fill the machine up?

  • We had a F&P dish drawer washer. I hated it. Forever working out which one was clean vs dirty and running it twice a day, one drawer or the other. Couldn’t fit enough in it, admittedly a family of five though. Even our standard dinner plates could only go in one spot which limited how you could pack it and really limited pots and pans meaning some days it was effectively on 3 times.

Back to a full size, sooo much better.

  • Thanks for the comments all, was interested in the double drawer after seeing one in the office kitchen at work, but based on the comments will stick with full size.

  • I ended up going for the Bosch series 4 SMS46GW01A, currently on sale for $698 https://www.fridgeandwashercity.com.au/bosch-sms46gw01a?gcli…

I got harvey norman to price match this and combined with 8% discount on harvey norman gift cards through work so ended up paying $644, a big saving compared to the dishdrawer options.

Just barely fit into the back of my car, had to remove the packaging to get it in which was a little embarrassing.
