Telstra Nokia 2.2 4GX $89 @ Coles

Telstra Locked Nokia 2.2 4GX.
Full specs at GSMArena
YouTube review

I have unlocked a Telstra Nokia recently, cost around $10 if I remember.

5.7" 720p HD display, good quality in my experience with Nokia 2.1
(295 ppi density)
13MP main camera
5MP front camera
16GB storage, Nokia has a good SD merge function, you add the micro-sd card and it asks you if you want to format to use it as additional primary storage
2GB RAM
3000mAh removable battery
Adnroid 9.0 (upgradeable to Android 10.0)
Sim + $10 Telstra credit included
Google Assistant button
CPU: Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 (12 nm)
GPU: PowerVR GE8320
Micro USB 2.0 (5W) charger
Nokia uses Android One which is a clean stock Android, without the bloatware you usually get, Nokia is also one of the best for updates
According to the specs it is a dual-sim phone, (however I cannot confirm that for AU)

  • Nokia 2.3 is now available for MSRP $149, I have seen it for $129 on sale
If you see the Nokia 2.3 for less than 50% more than this Nokia 2.2 $89 I would suggest getting that, but compared to full price $149 I would say they are about the same value atm.

    • Nokia 2.3 according to AU Nokia and a few retailers are showing $199 as the regular price though

      • +1

I just checked on the Nokia 2.3, yes most competitive sellers have the Nokia 2.3 at $199 unlocked,
but Big W is selling a Telstra locked Nokia 2.3 for $149.

  • Good enough phone, had it for a couple months before going back to my BlackBerry. Great battery life and good speakers, honestly two of the most important things for me in the age of every phone doing the same damn stuff nowadays.

Face unlock never worked for me though, don't remember the error message but it never registered, could have had a shitty one, could be an issue with many, don't know.

could have had a shitty one

      Face, or phone?

      • Best comment ever!

      • There's no could with the face, we know what it is. The phone may also have been shit, though it may have just been sad to look at me.

  • 2GB RAM, is it enough?

    • +1

At this price it is fine, but you will be reloading background apps more often

  • I looked at this a couple months ago. Couldn't get it unlocked for less than about $70.
Good phone, good size - pocketable - but only buy if you're on Telstra.

    • Did you check eBay,I used one of those for the 2.1 and worked fine for about $10

    • +1

      Hi,
Check with this seller on eBay.
      https://ebay.com.au/usr/pearlsfashion

      • Unless you must have Nokia and/or Android 10/One this Optus Prepaid ZTE model would be more suited ready to go on the Optus Network. Similar specs with bigger screen and no need to unlock.

Got message back from the above ebay unlocker, and they can unlock this 2.2 for $19.99, but you need to bring in /send the phone to them in order to unlock.

        Hi,
Yes, We can unlock Nokia 2.2 but we need the phone physically to unlock it. You may wish to bring or send it to us to complete the unlocking process. For this model, unlocking by unlock code is not possible. if you wish to proceed please purchase from our $19.99 listing. Thank you

  • The phones mentioned here look good value.

Is Nokia back in the game?

    • +1

Nokia is good value on sale, good updates and software is bloat free

I would recommend them over anything else locally purchased in the budget category

  • Phone unlock fee is dependant on how long you/somebody has had the phone. The newer the more it costs.

    • You can buy unless codes off eBay for cheap, I have and it worked fine

  • Hi,
For unlocking check with this seller.
    https://ebay.com.au/usr/pearlsfashion
    Thank you

    • From what I can see these guys ( both links ( this & above ) same seller ), can unlock Nokia 3310, 1, 2.1, 3, 3.1, 5, 5.1

and unfortunately the 2.2 is not listed. Asked seller a question for this 2.2 so if they can will rapport back.

      • Read $19.99 listing from seller. Thank you

        • Correct. But can you see the model listed from the OP, the 2.2?

  • +1

Does anyone know if this particular version of the phone supports Vodafone or Optus 4GX bands?

    • See my comment above.

Yes, when unlocked this should work well with both Optus and Vodafone 3G/4G, and as you're in Sydney, and the ebay unlocker is also based in Sydney/Lakemba it would be an option if you can be bothered.
