Any Options to Salary Sacrifice a Motorcyle

Looking at getting a harley which will be 30k or so, im on 150k+ annually. Ive asked 1 or 2 providers and done some basic research most do not provide it but heard rumours of people doing it.

  • Plenty of employees have salary sacrificed vehicles at my workplace (100's) but never seen or heard of anyone doing a motorcycle or commercial type vehicle.

Last I checked, a motorcycle cannot be classified as a work vehicle unless within a certain industry.

If it cannot be a work vehicle, you probably won't be able to salary sacrifice as the company cannot tax deduct.

  • It's deffinitly a grey area. I have the cash there for the bike. Just heard rummors that the price is going to drop.

Or I'll just buy a dyna

  • May need to start working for an OMG for it to be a salary sacrifice

the ATO doesnt like motorbikes as work vehicles. You will likely get audited (asked my accountant about this and that was his advice)

  • Won't happen, needs to be a work vehicle.

Please don't be like these guys :D

How do we know that OP isn’t a bikie, and therefore a motorcyle is most definitely a work vehicle?

  • Potential Ozbargain resident bikie!

  • Buy high demand car, which holds its price well, on a 1 year lease, run minimal K's on it and flip at end of term for a profit to go towards your motorbike

  • Nah not a bikie nor am i buying a car on a 1 year lease, ill use cash if i have to.

Partner on 80-90k isn't keen to get a new car either so looks like ill just look at other ways to get my tax down.

Maybee i should just become a bikie least that way its tax free
