Does this deal include the ACT? Any regional areas excluded?

    • "CEC Accredited Solar Retailer Operating in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales"

      • +2

I read that, but it is rarely clear with these kinds of deals - the ACT is often lumped in with NSW so it's worth clarifying.

I also asked about regional areas because nsw towns are within a stone's throw of the ACT border and I wanted to know if they are serviced.

    • Legally, yes. As according to section 125 of the Constitution: "The seat of Government of the Commonwealth … shall be in the State of New South Wales”

Just a general reminder when getting Solar PV system :)

      https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/avoiding-crap-solar-mb11…

  • What type of monitoring is included?

  • There is this deal posted for a similar system for $3581. https://arisesolar.com.au . Not sure what differences there are though

    • +1

It doesn't seem to be a Fronius inverter (European). Or 370W panels and hence is being offered for much cheaper.

    • +1

Arise don’t get good reviews on solarquotes!

      • I don't even see Pristine on Solar Quotes? Or, do I miss it?

    • +1

The pricing from Pristine Solar looks legit! Solar PV can't be too cheap or else, they will be cutting corners here and there.

      https://www.solarchoice.net.au/blog/solar-power-system-price…

However, I would recommend get a monitoring that can tell you how much you should be producing! Sorry Pristine, too many Solar Cowboys these days, not saying that you are one, but, we can't be too careful when getting one :)

I am interested in installing a solar panel in NSW but I have been getting conflicting information. Can anyone enlight me whether it's worthwhile to install a solar panel or not in NSW? I was told that if everyone is working during the day and is using the electricity mainly at night, it's not worthed as the buyback tariff is at 15 cents while the usage is at 20++ cents. On top of this, water heater etc is usually active at night (mine is). My electricity bill is around $400-$600 per quarter but I was told that it won't reduce it 100% (possibly 40%-60% maximum). Is this correct? On top of this, I was told that the inverter and panel may need maintenance every few years. I am not sure how much this is.

Lastly, can anyone comment on whether Jinko is a good system for solar panel or I should get something else instead? Thank you

    • Interested in same information

    • I have similar questions!! Though my bill comes out to be $300-350 a quarter and calculations tell me that it’ll come down to $100-200 and saving $500 a year.
      $500 saving per year, installing a 5k system - 10 years payback.
Plus maintenance costs - adding up everything don’t make sense in installing.

      Happy to be corrected!!

Rather than talk $, can you give usage in kWh/day. It will make more sense when you compare system production throughout the year.

You can get your hot water to run during the day if the controlled load rate is higher than the feed in tariff.

I would expect FIT to reduce over time so don't rely at that. Commercial solar farms are being built at less than $0.02/kWh

Jinko are reasonable value for money.

      • My total Controlled Load 1 was 2,094 kwh for a year, while the All Day Usage - Step 1 was 2,950 kwh for a year. I used the fin heater alot during the winter. Half of the above were from June to Sept 2019.

        • OK, so say 8kWh/day for house loads and another 6kWh/day for hot water.

A 6.6kW system would produce more than this daily on average. Have you looked at what FIT you can get on your grid network? If your FIT is less than the Controlled load rate consider heating hot water during the sun hours, otherwise leave off peak. The remainder of export could help pay the supply charges.

What is the power consumption of the heater? 2000W? I'd consider getting a split system heat pump A/C to replace the radiant heater.

          • @Steptoe: I had a quick look and found either 11c or 14c Retailer-funded feed-in tariff. I assume this is what you mean.

            Price summary
            General charges
            Daily supply charge 99.00 cents/day
            General usage rates 28.35 cents/kWh
            Controlled load
            Controlled load usage 16.84 cents/kWh
            Solar feed-in
            14 cents/kWh exported

            OR

            General charges
            Daily supply charge 82.17 cents/day
            General usage rates 23.53 cents/kWh
            Controlled load
            Controlled load usage 13.98 cents/kWh
            Solar feed-in
            11 cents/kWh exported

Yes, the heater was 2000W. I just installed a split system in a room. Not sure whether it will be cheaper this winter or not. I will see soon. Hahaha…

            • +1

@Devilius: Good move on the split system. Should be about 1/3 power usage compared to radiant heater.

So your controlled load is 3c/kWh above the FIT (feed-in tariff). exporting 2kWh/day will cover that fee.

Based on supply rates you need to export 7-8kWh to cover that fee.

I think you'd go close to zero $ bill with a 6.6kW/5kW system

              • @Steptoe: Are you sure? Not doubting you but I find it a bit hard to believe that it will reduce the electricity bill to nil. I thought it may only reduce it by for example 40%-60% - hard to tell as I am not sure how much consumed during the day vs night.

On a separate note, what do you think of this offer by Pristine Solar? Good deal or okay or wait for something better? Or use a different system or this system is good?

                • @Devilius: Hard to be sure when considering clouds, shading and usage patterns. You'll have to run your own numbers.

Maybe you can do some meter readings to get more data on the day/night split by reading morning and evening over a few days to clarify. You could consider a consumption meter to gather data like this

I'm not sure this is that special a deal. Fronius has a good name for reliability but is comparatively old tech.

                • @Devilius: I've got the exact same system installed that's posted in this deal and have similar usage patterns. During the summer months, my bill was in the negative. Definitely worth it but considering that I got the rebate from the VIC govt, it was a no brainer.

    Hi OP,
How much extra would it cost for Qcells panels? PM me please. Cheers.

Hi Do you mind explain how warranties work?

    • Hi Jack,
The panels come with a 12-year warranty and the inverter comes with a 5+5 year warranty. Our workmanship warranty is 10 years.

  • Quote for Qcells panel, PM me please.

  • I'm super keen to get solar for my house, but I saw you guys offer the same package for $3511 for VIC. Is it because the rebates are different there or am I missing something?

    • Hi Wayne,
Yes. In Victoria, rebates are different. Victorian residents may be eligible for a further $1,888 rebate and an optional $1,888 interest free loan.

      • +1

        Ah I see.
Just a stupid question, if I go ahead, do I pay the $4480 or do I pay the full amount to you guys and then receive the rebate from the gov later on?

I'm happy to pull the trigger if you could comment on if any of the aforementioned corners are being cut.

        • +1

          Hi Turna,
We must've missed this comment, but we can assure you that no corners are being cut - at any cost. Customer satisfaction is one of our main priorities, and the installers that we use are top of the game. The same applies with the equipment that we use.

      Is this deal still on?

      • Hi Wayne,
