Romantic Kayaking trip

I bought this voucher earlier this year and I have not used it yet.

When I tried to make a booking today (for the upcoming summer months) I was shocked to find that BreakAway Adventures are only running this "Romantic Kayaking Trip" ONE weekend per month between NOV 2011 and FEB 2012.

To me, it seems contradictory with what's written on the voucher:

"Tours run every second Friday from 2/1/11 to 1/4/11, and then restart again in November".

So effectively this company has decided to run half the amount of trips as stated in the voucher and therefore making people miss out on redeeming their vouchers on a day of their choosing? from Jan 2011 - Apr 2011 they were doing friday and Saturday trips every fortnight.

As me and my wife can only attend on Saturdays, there are no more free Saturdays left until 14th Jan 2012, which is after the expiry date of the voucher.

So what gives? To me it almost smells of dodgy tactics used by BreakAway Adventure in order to minimise the number of vouchers redeemed. Considering all the Saturday bookings are booked out until Jan 2012, they know the demand is high for Saturday bookings…

What do you think guys? I've sent an email to Spreets but I'm not holidng my breath…

    well from what you wrote there, it says "will restart in Nov" but it didn't explicitly state whether it would be under the same schedule as before. Having said that, that's what is implied in the sentence due to the lack of details so i think you're getting hard done by, by a dodgy company. Report !!! ACCC etc etc..or whatever that organisation is.

    I'm guessing you bought this spreets deal.

    Tours run every second Friday from 2/1/11 to 1/4/11 and then restart again in November (extra tours may be added to deal with the demand on Saturdays and Sundays)

    To me it sounds like every second Friday from November until expiry with possible added tours on Sat/Sunday. But no guarantee for Sat/Sunday tours unless people can't fit in on Friday. Breakaway's schedule seems to contradict that though. Spreets could tell you that Sundays are available.

    Let's see what they say before going in all guns blazing. If Spreets respond and can't help you perhaps email Breakaway and tell them about this thread.

      If you jump on to the website http://www.breakawayadventures.com.au/ and go to calendar > kayaking > page 2 you will find Saturdays available in November.

      Also if you give them a call on 1300 123 660, they'd be able to accommodate you on a Saturday suitable to you.

      They've closed the case before I can even reply. SPREETS - THIS IS NOT RESOLVED! Your customer service officer didn't even look at the correct Calendar - its the "ROMANTIC KAYAKING", not the regular kayaking.

      I've replied to Alexandra's email with the correct calendar…hopefully she can get it right this time…

          Well guess what? Thats not what I bought from you. I bought a voucher for the ROMANTIC KAYAKING TRIP, not the regular kayaking trip. They're completely different - each with their own unique calendar/schedule.

          Really disappointed at the level of service here Spreets. Your own customer service staff can't even provide the correct info for the deals you've published…did you even READ my response on here before replying?

  • Hiya, yes, that was her first email to you but after your clarification, she has written to you three times on Oct-07 2011 16:27, Oct-10 2011 17:13 and Oct-11 2011 17:42 requesting you to talk to the business on 1300 123 660 as she has spoken to them on behalf of you and they have had vacancies for the romantic kayaking tour (due to cancellations, new tour etc.). Have you received these emails? Are you able to update her via email please? Please be in touch with her as she will be able to assist you fully until this has been resolved. Thank you.
