What does aa7+ mean? Never heard of this marbling score before

  • +4

You should edit the title as it says "Kobe" beef when this clearly isn't and is incredibly misleading.

    • +1

Yup I had the same thoughts. This isn't "Kobe" Beef. It is Wagyu Beef.

      • +8

100% misleading. did a bit of of googling. AACo is an australian beef producer - "Kobe Cuisine" is AACo's first Wagyu beef brand. This company has come up with their own scoring system and named their australian wagyu "Kobe" to make shoppers thing they're buying the real deal.

Kobe Wagyu is beef that comes from Kobe… as in Japan, Kobe, domo arigato.

        • +4

          thats terribly deceptive advertising,

i hope they get penalised for it

        • +2

Maybe smart advertising. They are big company (check their statements) which is publicly listed and do have a reputation. Their scoring system is pretty inline with the aus meats standard so they aren't really misleading anyone.

They mostly export their wagyu and many people know dont know the word wagyu but do know the word kobe so there is some reason behind their brands like "master kobe" and "kobe cuisine" especially in the international markets.

I don't think they really care about retail shoppers like us as we barely are barely an itch to them and I guess its up to the butchers to name their products correctly and not call their wagyu "Kobe" exactly.

    • Looks like the company that supplies this meat uses their own grading system.

The Kobe in the name comes from their brand called Kobe Cuisines, and doesn't seem to have any association with the actual Kobe region in Japan.

Is this good for Spag Bol?

  • -8

Guys, Google Kobe Beef Fillet Price Marble Score 7+. This is absolute best price you can get.

    • +4

best price for the in house graded, non Kobe originating, Kobe beef?…… borderline about to neg, but not sure what the quality of the beef is for the price you are charging.

edit: not to mention, their website is THEmeatemporium.com.au, based in Elanora Heights - not to be confused with Australian Meat Emporium (meatemporium.com.au) based in Alexandria. Seems like this is a recurring theme.

      • OP, nothing wrong with the deal. MS7+ grade australian wagyu at less than $100/kg is a good deal. just the kobe bit is misleading

        • -2

I checked with The Meat Emporium guys, this is Wagyu eye fillet selling for less than $80/kg. Amazing price.

        • Nothing wrong with the deal, however deliberately misleading the public is wrong.
Similarly to the company 'UGG Australia', where their products are made in China.

          • -6

@lplau: Its an amazing deal. People should check other store prices before talking.

Same marketing company is probably behind the "100% Aussie Beef" branding for McDonald's.

  • is delivery to Vic possible?
    website isn't saying no…?

  • Love to order some if it can be delivered to VIC

What is AA7 grade? I reckon I ate at least over 100kgs of Wagyu beef in my life. i've never head of AA7 grade. this sounds like made up. and it isn't Kobe beef, unless its from Kobe Japan.

  • -5

Checked with the owners. This is the Eye Fillet, best quality you can get. I think other stores sell this for way more. Get quality meat while you can.

    • +1

Where’s the quality meat going? On a holiday?

    • Better than real kobe Wagyu???

Or better in your own made up rating system?

  • My butcher has stocked this brand before. Overpriced crap. There is much better wagyu out there for this price.

    • AAco probably has the lowest price wagyu you can get, your butcher is just overpriced. You just need to get it from the right place which means you usually need to buy a box. Their grading is similar to the ausmeat standard although not as consistant but cannot fault the quality.

      • I agree about AACo.

I'm not the biggest Wagyu fan, just as happy with a nice Black Angus. That being said their MB6-8 Wagyu eye fillet was delicious! Bought about 5kg at $45/kg from superbutcher.

        • I used to pick up the 5-6kg strips for about 45$ p/kg that were their AA8 graded which I reckon was pretty similar to the standard MB7/8 score. Only highly recommend.

  • Hey guys, I bought from here before with their Wagyu rump deal - it was amazing!

Would recommend and the team there are great.

Definitely gonna jump on the rump again and I might see if I can split that eye fillet with a couple of mates.

    Thanks op!

    • Thank you for the support!

  • What is the slaughter/packaged date on these tenderloins ?

    • When I picked up the wagyu rump last week they were cutting up the meat as I arrived and shrink wrapped it. I assumed eat ASAP so cooked half and froze the other half.

      • The tenderloins should last a bit over 60 days from the packaged date in the initial vacuum sealed bag when they come as primals and judging by the weight (2.5/2.8kg) I assume these do.

Have had AAco wagyu primals that were nearing the 90 day mark and they leave a very nasty smell and strong sour taste that would stop most people from wanting to eat steak for a few weeks! Although I did eat a bit and the dogs didn't mind.

I will assume these are nearing the 60 day mark and will probably be cut up to make sure they aren't funky.

  • 74$ a kilo of beef…

    • Own grading system
    • “Kobe”

    Hard pass.

I ordered the Full Blood Wagyu Rump MS9+ from the last deal and it was amazing. I couldnt resist getting it again. highly recommended

  • +3

I also got the previous deal being the wagyu rump and was very happy with the quality as you can see; https://imgur.com/wTYXKlr

The guys were very welcoming and happy to offer deals on all the meat they had in stock. For some reason they don't post the deals themselves so whoever is posting on their behalf does not know how to get all the deal info correct. They deliver to northern beaches and said possibly Sydney CDB but not interstate.

I'm going to start a car company and call it ferrari, and advertise with a v12 engine

But it will just be a corolla with my own engine grading system, v4+8=v12

Ludicrous to even mention kobe when there is no association

  • +1

I've ordered the Full Blood Wagyu Rump MS9+ I'm very happy with the meat and the customer service. I've called Richard and it's not Kobe from Japan but he says it's very good so I'm going to order it as his reputation is on the line and give you guys the feedback if there is still any left over.

  • Do you guys sell Kobe Lobster aswell?
