Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Flash over-Exposes Photos, Didn't before?

Hi all,

Firstly, I haven't tried a reinstall. Likewise, I've never upgraded it from the stock it came with.

However, I used to be able to take a flash photo and it worked as it should.

At some point, when I used flash, it simply "fogged-over" so much that the entire image was garbage. It looks literally like you're shooting through fog or dry-ice. Photos taken w/o flash are fine (assuming you have enough light).

Has anyone else had/solved this issue?

Cheers

Before you search high and low for a solution, you haven't got a phone case that obscures the flash and redirects the light directly into the lens? I've noticed that before.

  • Sorry, no. I don't, It's in the same case as always. Only started doing this a few months after I had it. Sorry for the delay in replying.

  • I didn't think it would matter, but I just used scissors and trimmed the vinyl around the flash/camera area on the case as much as I could without hitting the seam.

    It's now taking flash okay!

How f-ing weird? I literally used it for a year and all was okay— then one day it was ruined. I didn't change the case either, nor have I updated.

Either way- thanks for that idea.

    :)
