Persona 4 Golden now available on Steam so now my VITA is unfortunately worthless to me. But 15% is pretty good for one of the best JRPG's ever made.

Nice, don't forget $23.99 for Humble Choice subs as well.

    https://www.humblebundle.com/store/persona-4-golden

I'm amazed it came to PC before PS4.

    • I'm a humble choice sub, and I don't get that price…it's the same price as fanatical for me.

      • +2

Have you set your discount to 20% or is it on charity settings?

  • +4

100% 10/10 best rpg i ever played. Finished it twice on vita.

  • +20

If your vita is worthless to you I'll give you $20 for it.

  • Is 5 available or coming to PC?

    • You can play Persona 5 on a PS3 emulator, but sadly no official P5 or P5R on anything but the Playstation 3 or 4.

    • No news of that one yet, I imagine ATLUS is seeing how sales go for this to determine whether it's worth porting P5. Though I imagine their exclusivity deal with Sony may be an issue.

    • Not officially announced yet but with royal released on ps4 and 4 on pc, I would say the chances for 5 are very high on pc.

      • +2

I thought a port to the Switch was very likely with Joker being included in Smash, but Atlus works in mysterious ways.

        • also there's a Persona 5 spinoff Switch game in Japan which raises even more questions

  • +1

Already finished on Vita and couldn't be happier to repurchase this masterpiece. Today is a good day!

gamebillet is $24.69 if you want to save 80 cents.

    • You are not really saving 80cents. A lot of banks charge foreign transaction fees and have diffrent exchange rates. If you pay via paypal you also might be paying even more than this deal.

You are better off just going with a storefront that sells in AUD.

      • -1

Fanatical is probably not Australia based anyway so unless you use AMEX they will probably charge you the foreign fee anyway AUD or not.

        • +7

I've purchased from both stores in the past month, NAB charges the fee on Gamebillet but not Fanatical.

          • +1

@EightC: I believe that some of these online stores that sell in AUS$ setup a small sub-company registered in Australia to handle the transaction so that it appears to be bought in Australia to any bank transaction fees, and some don't. OzGameshop for example is one that I think does that, so you don't get charged foreign handling fees even though they're based in England - Fanatical might do the same?

            • @akaB: I don't think so? Looking through my transactions it looks like NAB just doesn't charge it at all if it was charged in AUD, the transaction for Fanatical even has Rugeley, UK as the location.

I think the confusion comes in when sites like Gamebillet display the price in AUD on the store page but they actually charge you in another currency and the store page is just doing an exchange estimate.

              • @EightC: Looks like NAB is more the exception rather than the rule.

The international transaction fee for these transactions is:

Transactions converted by Mastercard® or Visa - 3.00%
Transactions in Australian dollars but with an overseas connection - 3.00%
In some cases, overseas merchants may allow you to pay in Australian dollars, e.g. when you’re shopping online or over the phone. This is still considered an international transaction because your transaction is processed overseas.

                https://www.commbank.com.au/support.credit-cards.what-is-an-…

An International Transaction is any transaction, credit or
refund or reversal in respect of a transaction:
                • In a currency other than Australian currency; or
                • Where the merchant or financial institution accepting or
processing the transaction, credit, refund or reversal is
                outside of Australia; or
                • Which is considered by Visa to require conversion into
Australian currency (for example, where the transaction,
credit, refund or reversal is submitted on behalf of a
merchant to a financial institution by an intermediary
                that is outside of Australia
                ).

                https://www.anz.com.au/content/dam/anzcomau/documents/pdf/pe…

A Foreign Transaction is any Purchase or Cash Advance made using the Card:

in a currency other than Australian dollars; or
in Australian dollars or any other currency with a Merchant located outside
                Australia; or
in Australian dollars or any other currency that is processed by an entity
                located outside Australia.

Great to see it pop up on PC. God, if we could only get this on switch!!!

  • my PSTV is wasted then

Need to look into modding heh

    • +4

Everyone's PSTVs were wasted when Sony effectively pulled the plug on them so soon after release.

    • -5

I'll give you $20 for it

      • I made $500 selling my 2x pstvs and vita…

      • I'll give you $10 for it

  • Yes! I am glad I waited instead of buying a vita just for this game! Thanks OP!

  • +3

Story wise this might be better than Persona 5 TBH

    • +7

      Definitely is

      • Yeah I like MC more in P4. Also there are more heart-warming scenes and better chemistry among the cast. 230 hours of my life on P4 Half of that in P5

        • I didn't even finish P5, it felt like a slog at times. Just didn't click with me like P4G did.

  • +1

    RIP Vita

    • +5

This game isn't the only reason to use a Vita. Whatchu smokin?

      • What's the other one?

      • +3

Ok, it was only funny the first time

        • Nope, not even the first time

    • Own a vita since 2012 and have not played golden ama

    • Yes, because a game being made available to more people somehow devalues the platform its originally on.

  • Hmmm, too bad my save is still on the vita or I would purchase this for a new game+ run.

Can Steam saves be swapped between different users?

  • Whats vita?

    • 🤦‍♂️

      • +1

        What’s a Dreamcast?

        • +1

They share many similarities when it comes to lifespan and popularity.

          • @Yuri Lowell: They also shared the NEC PowerVr GPU. Albeit different iterations.

Funny how they took a break from consoles after the Dreamcast then started again with the Vita.

        • It's a failure, that's what 😜

  • +5

    Nice deal!

Also OP check out Vita hacks if you're interested in getting more out of your vita.

  • Don't forget shopback / cashrewards

  • +12

Lmao at all the people saying the Vita is worthless, they've like doubled in value in the past year or two. I bought two for around $100 each but now you can't get one for less than $200. I'd say prices are going up now.

    • +1

Are prices gonna drop now lol?

    • wow, never knew second hand Vita prices were so high.

I have an old Vita that I haven't touched in about 5 years. Might try flogging it off.
Comes with JRPG classics… Persona 4 Golden, FFX, Muramasa Rebirth, Dragons Crown, Disgaea 4

      • That's worth a mint now. Probably get $400 for the lot (srs)

    • +1

I sold my collection (it was large and had many LE games and a LE console) for over $5k to fund my racing simulator's PC and ultrawide screen. I couldn't believe the value.

    • the games are like collectors items now!

  • Thx, just steam refunded it and brought key

  • +3

Nahh would much rather play this on the vita. The vita version runs perfectly.

    • Trying so hard to justify the purchase of a vita lmao

      • +6

For RPGs I really can't be bothered playing them while tethered to the PC or couch. I get most of my play when I pick it up for 10 minutes here and there or on public transport.

Being portable outweighs it for me. Of course other people have their own. preferences.

The vita is awesome! P4G just makes it even more awesome.

    • +2

Perfect but only at 576p, it'll be nice to play at 1080p and a locked 60 frames. The vita version is still a great and there for mobility though I'll be happy to play on the big screen in the lounge through my Shield TV or in bed on my tablet now.

      • -1

576p? I think you mean 544p. With hacking it can run 720p 60 or 1080p 30 on a PS Vita TV.

  • +3

Vita is useless hey. Get over here and I'll show you useless 😝

I'm glad most of my vitas are boxed and did not hear this comment.

  • +3

THis game is my favorite JRPG of all time, but the Vita is still a great portable machine for Falcom and Atlus games. Muramasa, Cold Steel etc. Plus it has the best D-pad of all times.

  • +4

No reason to have a vita? hacking it is so useful, It can play PSX, PSP, SNES, Megadrive, Some GBA and translated or unreleased in Australia vita games on it. My hacked vita is basically just a VN, JRPG, Shoot 'em up and puzzle machine :)

    • +1

For me, the USB video out plugin was the best reason to hack it. Connect up a DS4 too and it becomes a Switch, it has made my PSTV completely redundant.

      • I had no idea about this. Thank you good sir.

  • People forgetting Vita came out like 9 years ago. If you got P4G back in 2012 there's a good chance you already enjoyed it with your Vita.

    Great game btw.

  • Can anyone tell what are the resolution options for the PC version?

Is it only 16:9? or there are other options like 4:3 or 3:2?

    Thanks.

    • 16:9 only afaik, definitely no ultrawide support unfortunately.

  • +1

    F_RpymlPkDO5Ujza

5% off for someone. If whoever uses it could pass it to another person when they get theirs and so on, that would be great.

  • +4

It comes plastered in denuvo. No buy.

    • +1

If this is true then it's important for buyers to know this as some people really don't want denuvo due to its awful way of digging into your kernel

  • Is this game a sequel to others in the series? I usually hate to jump into a series halfway through, but this looks interesting. I only do it when the stories are not connected, like Fire Emblem, which I started with Awakening.

    • +1

It was my first Persona game and I was hooked.

      • -1

Same it was 12 years ago I got my copy of ps2 I had a blast. I didn't want to fight with my parents using the TV I bought a component to VGA adapter box and using a old work LCD monitor along with a good old Yamaha hifi connected to it on 3.5mm

Every day come back to work play an hour or two before dinner. Was that good

Cannot relive that moment any more

    • +6

You can jump in on this one with zero issues, I did and then started playing the older ones. This is the best imo, I much preferred it to the latest as well.

    • +3

There's almost no connection between any of the persona games

  • +2

so now my VITA is unfortunately worthless to me

! How dare you! Little guy is doing it's best

Vita is and always will be greatest of all time

  • -1

I've heard people didn't like this version?

    • +1

Not sure where you heard that, the Golden edition especially is often cited as one of the best JRPGs ever.

  • +5

Every day's great at your Junes!

    • +1

Imagine you are at Westfield and that song gets played throughout the centre…

  • +2

Did anyone successfully download and run the deluxe version? I'm unable to run the game due to missing file wmvcore.dll, which is linked to Windows Media Player. I'm unable to install as I have Windows N Enterprise OS. I have tried to download through Microsoft but won't let me 😒

  • What's the difference between this and the "deluxe" edition?

    • +1

Deluxe edition has a digital art book and soundtrack which only has 9 or something songs I think not the whole thing for some reason.

  • Hmmm, maybe I should dig out my Vita instead and finally play this.

  • How does Persona compare to the core Shin Megami Tensei series? I played SMTIV a while back and really dug it.

    • +1

I haven't played SMT (despite owning IV for a while) but from the looks of it, SMT goes more down the hardcore traditional JRPG route, whereas Persona is built more around social links and spending time with classmates/other characters to dive deeply into their personalities and whatnot. They're both great JRPG's, and for $25 it's well worth giving P4G a go, especially if you liked SMTIV.

    • +1

Fairly different in tone. Persona 4 is more anime and a high school lifestyle simulator. It's also very heavy on dialogue and almost becomes a visual novel at times. The battle systems are quite similar and use the "press turn system", as in you get another turn when you hit an enemy weakness. You can fuse demons just like SMTIV but only the main character can use fused demons/personas, your 3 other party members are set and can't be customised much. Both have a great combat system and offer a fair difficulty where you need to exploit weaknesses and cover up your own. Persona 4 uses randomly generated dungeons and no combat outside of these dungeons. Persona 4 also has a more J-Pop soundtrack with vocalised songs rather than the heavier electronic/rock soundtrack of SMTIV. They have similar epic boss battle themes though.

If you enjoyed SMTIV you're sure to enjoy Persona 4. It still has a great story and lots of dark moments as well as heartfelt moments with a fantastic cast of characters.
