Cheap Ergonomic Chair?

Can you actually find a cheap ergonomic office chair? Our work is now implementing WFH as a norm and I’m looking at buying a decent office home chair. I was eyeing a used Herman Miller Aeron chair but cheapest I found was around $550. Still a bit expensive.

What do you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Consider the useful life of the chair and how long you'll spend in it.

I had the same deliberation probably 6 years ago before buying my Aeron which was a huge sum of money to me at the time. I'm sitting in it right now, and have zero regrets paying the extra for a decent chair.

If you can grab one 2nd hand, they're a solid buy and (unfortunately) with the number of businesses closing down there does seem to be more on Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree than 6 months ago.

I'm pretty happy with the Ikea Markus chair I bought last week…. about $329 and a 10 year warranty.
    $229 for the fabric version.

  • Don't cheap out on a chair especially if you are working from home and you will be sitting on it for >7 hours a day. This is coming from someone who has been working from home for several years.
A couple of years ago, I bought a task chair ($200) from officeworks and it aggravated the pain in my coccyx from a 4-5/10 to 8-9/10.
Recently, I decided enough is enough and I bought a 2nd hand Aeron for $550. Now I feel minimal pain in my coccyx. Regretted not buying it from the start.

  • Buro metro chair with armrests.
