Pram That Wont Hurt My Back

Hi there, I am onto my second baby and hurt my back with the bugaboo pram, I think , when I was getting it out of the boot. Can anyone recommend a light pram please? I want to find a good one that has a sale.
Thanks,
Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

What is the current weight of the pram you are using?
What lifting technique did you use? This is very important when lifting anything you would consider heavy.

My suggestion would be to go into a pram store and explain your situation with the sales guys.
If they're good they will let you try a few models to move in and out the pram to see your comfort level.

    • Thanks so much! Yeah its just hard to go in right now but i have the bugaboo cameleon which is so heavy so looking for a lighter one for the next one :)

I think you need a physio rather then a pram. :)

    • oops i replied to the wrong comment- yes i go to the chiro a lot

I suggest you may want to visit a physio to undo the damage that the chiro is doing.

It took me around 3yrs after stopping the chiro visits (went for around 5years wondering why the improvements never lasted) and getting guidance from a good physio on exercises to fix the root cause of my issues.

  • My wife has a… not great back. It took us a few months of pram shopping and comparing them based on weight, her ability to pick them up etc.

We ended up buying the Valco Baby Snap Ultra Tailor Made.
    https://www.valcobaby.com.au/product/tailormade_snap_ultra#4

Found it to be one of the lightest ones with a frame weight of approx 5.1kg (some others we saw were up to 11kg!) and the seat is only 3.1kg, so ~8kg+bub is pretty good.

    • thats great thank you so much!

  • It's best to go in store and muck around lifting/opening/closing/leaning over to pretend to clip a kid in/walking around/etc. until there's a pram that is the least amount of effort in all categories.

If you're after recommendations, I'd look at Valco's Snap series of lightweight prams. We had a Snap 4 (no longer in production) that was excellent - light, can be easily manoeuvred with one hand, wheels large enough for walking on rough paths, and made it through multiple flights where it was chucked around by baggage handlers. 4 years after the warranty ran out, they sent replacement brakes for free when the brake cable went, so their service is good too.
