Suggestions on Postage Methods for Clothing

Hey guys,

I've just made a clothing sale online and will need to post it interstate. I'm anticipating alot more sales in the future as I've just started an account selling my clothes. I am wondering if you guys have bargain suggestions for a person starting out selling stuff online. Any auspost hacks perhaps? How do Chinese sellers on eBay sell stuff for so cheap when it cost me $10 to post a top within Australia. Are they utilising some posting hack I'm unaware of?

Thanks for reading!

  • Any auspost hacks perhaps?

Business accounts sending 5 parcels/week get a small discount.

For metro delivery, checkout sendle and couriers please (stay away from fastway). Both should be slightly cheaper than AusPost. For regional deliveries, AusPost is the cheapest.

How do Chinese sellers on eBay sell stuff for so cheap

Post is cheap in China. Australia post loses a crazy amount of money doing the last mile on these parcels, due to an international treaty.

  • Look for satchels for sale on Ebay and buy them with gift cards you bought for a discount or the occasional Ebay discount etc, I was just given a $10 coupon by Ebay I used to buy 20 for 168

    • There is one that has large satchels with postage stamps on for slightly less than the retail price, then get a discount also with giftcard, even 1.5% at cashrewards ausopst store or buy $50 Ebay cards with a 2% cashback HSBC

  • https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/20x-500g-Australia-Parcel-Post-S… I bought this one, they come in a larger size and a smaller size, I got with disocunt giftcards and saved that way too

Sendle could be a better and cheaper option than Auspost.

Chinese basically get free government funded postage.
Unless youre peddling junk, shipping is a non factor

  • Hey guys, thanks for all the tips, with Sendle, the quoted prices for metro delivery is much cheaper than Auspost, downside is i don't have a printer and am required to print my own label. Today at the post office a worker told me I am able to post smaller packages as letters as long as the width is under 2cm. I'm still researching better options. I've sold a pair of pants for $25 and ended up paying $9.2 for postage lol.

You have to also make sure that the parcel weighs less than 250g for large letters and 125g for small letters … your pants won’t weigh 250g.

      • thanks for the heads up!

  • The best is DHL, and you have to pay export taxes (and the customer import taxes). Attach the invoice, manifest about the merchandise and shipping guide. The invoice, 3 copies on an open envelope.

For returns, don't forget to add the same documents in order to avoid pay again import or export taxes.

I always use express service: https://www.ebay.it/str/naeveganshoes
