  • Journey was good. Flower was a glorious game and I'm furious to this day they never made a sequel.

Both great games, but Journey in particular is amazing. One of my all-time favourites, I still go back to it semi-regularly even now, 8 years later. One of the greatest game soundtracks ever, too.

It's only about 2 hours long, which is actually a point in its favour as it's best experienced in a single sitting. So try to clear a couple hours from your schedule to do it in one hit rather than just dipping in and out of it.

    • Damnit. Wish I had known that earlier. I played an hour then went to do other things.

One of the greatest game soundtracks ever, too.

The soundtrack is truly one of the most underrated, orchestral gems out there; even if you never the play the game, I would give the soundtrack a listen on Spotify if you like Hans Zimmer-esque, epic orchestral compositions.

      • I don't know if I'd say underrated - it was the first (and possibly only, I'm not sure) original video game soundtrack to get a Grammy nomination. It didn't win, which is understandable when it was up against movie composers like Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Howard Shore, but the fact it even got that recognition from outside the games industry is a fair indicator of how significant it was and still is.

        • Yeah but being an indie title it just hasn't had the sales and reach to actually garner the attention of many gamers out there, despite its universal critical praise, and the Grammy awards are completely ignored by gamers and even the gaming world's press given how rare nominations for videogame soundtracks are. Some gaming journalists might have covered that, but videogame soundtracks in general are still a very, very underappreciated medium in all cases save for the biggest Triple-A heavyweight franchises, which imo, tend to have the most bland, generic-sounding scores anyway.

I have probably hundreds of GBs of videogame soundtracks as this point and I continually find that some of the very best soundtracks always come from obscure, niche or overlooked games.

@Gnostikos: Everybody's Gone To The Rapture is my other favourite game soundtrack… I rank it alongside Journey.

            • @AngusD: I couldn't even begin to rank my favourite videogame OSTs.
There's simply too many to choose from and as as good as Journey's is, there are at least a several dozen others I would rank on the same level, if not higher.

I will check out the soundtrack for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, as I quite liked Dear Esther.

  • Just a heads up that this has been cheaper on Epic Store.

If you have a $15 off coupon still, Journey is down to $7.95 and Flower is usually $4.95 on sale.

Though, Steam is currently the cheapest for both I think.

I have both on my (packed away) PS3 though would love to have it on PC… going to wait till the next Steam/Epic sale to see if there are further discounts and also on the off chance that it ends up being an Epic Store giveaway.

Additionally, players should check out Sky: Children of the Light on iOS and Android. Also made by That Game Company.
