Great sale but it once again brings up my gripe that if i bought a ps1 game on my ps3 it should be a free rebuy on the ps4. Having to buy again is ridiculous.

    • I couldn't agree more mate!

    • Agree…

If Apple can do it when a new iphone is released, surely Sony can too…

    • Is this right? I bought journey on my ps3 and was able to redownload it on my ps4. This clearly isn’t the case with all games? That’s disgusting behaviour.

      • same thing, brought the resident collection for PS3. now i have to buy the entire thing again for ps4. talk about double dipping :(

        • +1

Not much difference keep RE collection on PS3 and be happy.

@Laziofogna: problem is my ps3 console died and i still have my ps4. so to play it i need to repurchase them again or rebuy a used ps3 and pray it doesn't died.

            • +1

@godofpizza: I feel you man. It has happened to me with the original PS3 and the infamous light of death, but I have found out lots available at Cash Converters semi new less than $100. Take a look around

      • There's a handful of PSN titles like Journey that are cross buy with PS3 and PS4. But all the ps1 games and most PSN games aren't cross buy. Which really sucks. Honestly I'm worried about this problem with Nintendo and their next Switch console. Will they support the original eshop purchases? I hope so since I've bought a lot.

        • There is no excuse for digital purchases not to work. Older consoles that were predominantly disc reads they had the excuse because of hardware upgrades DVD>Bluray and such but digital an emulation they could use or licencing trace when you sign in on a new device to get the game on that version.

    • 100% with you, though I'd be a lot more chill about it if they never let the stuff be shared instead of stopping it out of nowhere.

When PSP was the only current gen console I had, and I picked up stuff like Crash 3 and Cool Boarders PS1 via the PSN, it was super cool to be able to transfer them over to my PS3 and play them on the tele, same as the minis games of which I bought a gooood bunch.

Then when I got a Vita, and all of those could come over again, awesome.

Then the PS4 is about to have it's successor out in a few months and I think it's safe to say we're not getting PS1 games on it.

      • You're correct, while I never had one many games were psp and ps3 multibuys, some even ps3/psp/vita. Hopefully with ps5 being a bit more capable it should all be done, but seeing its all software emulation I really don't know how and why it's not done.

        • I don't know. On the one hand I get it, it can be seen as being a bit entitled to expect a game bought 10 years ago to be free when they sell it on a new thing, I don't expect to get the Godfather trilogy on 4K Blu Ray for free because I bought the VHS box set for $2 at a market a good decade ago.

On the other hand, (profanity) you, I already bought this game and you have done nothing to it other than slap a new price tag on it and I'm supposed to pay again? PS2 games were a real bitch for it. Because with PS1 games you got them on PSP, PS3, and Vita, in some cases a couple weren't compatible with Vita but 9 times out of 10 you would get them on all 3, and since the Vita only came out a year before PS4 it's not crazy to have assumed this would continue. But then getting rid of PS1 all together, well, they didn't ask for you to repay at least. But the PS2 stuff they did. I got the 5 PS2 GTAs, Bully, Warriors, SSX, Max Payne, and so on on PS3 and in the end rebought the GTA trilogy and Bully on PS4 during a sale years later because I was a bit of a trophy whore at the time. And you know what the difference is? The emulator they use this time shows it a higher resolution, nothing changed with the game, just the settings on the emulator. They added trophies, that didn't work half the time anyway at that. That's it. So they added trophies. Everything else is handled by the emulator, idiots going "oh you can record footage now" that's a PS4 systel level feature, "oh you can share play now" same story, "oh it looks a lot higher res" that's just the blanket emulator they did nothing to the game individually.

Actually, know what they did change? They removed some more songs from Vice City and San Andreas.

Well worth rebuying. At least the 360/PS3 remake (which is back compat at no extra cost on Xbox One, hell, you can even put in an original Xbox disc of SA and get it) changed shit, added a new lighting engine, higher res textures, auto saves, checkpoint system, lots of stuff to at least somewhat justify it.

    • Why do you want it again if you already have it?

      • Because my ps3 is used as a bluray player in a different part of the house, if I want to play at night I can't as it might wake my kid.
Some people might have sold on their ps3 or it has broken, but they should still have access to the games just like you would on the google play store or apple store if you upgraded or sold your phone or tablet.

I still don’t get why you can’t play with your original disc. Buy a cheap blu ray player, move the console and you are done no more whinging

          • +1

@Laziofogna: I can't play with my original disc because I have no disc, we are talking about digitally purchased games here.
Yes doing what you said would work in my specific situation but for others who no longer have the console this would not help.
My point is that from a technical stand point it can't be hard, Sony have done cross play in the past and so have other companies. Forcing a rebuy of a digital game is a poor move.

            • @nmachine: Ok got it now, you bought digital for PS3 and now they want more money for the digital on PS4. I am with you then you’re right.

    • Love my Xbox for that very reason. I have both XB1X and PS4P.

Be careful these might not be compatible with ps5. Your better off getting it on Xbox as the 3rd party will all be playable on series X day one.

I thought this was another horrid sale. Feel like last half dozen sales have been a joke. Hopefully the winter sale is good and not full of the same games on every single sale.

    • Sales are being shite everywhere, then they complain when they shut doors

  • +3

Wish more PS3 and Vita games would go on sale. Not really a Retro sale if only 5 older platform games go on sale.

    • Count yourself lucky, there are no PS1 games on sale.

    • +2

      *4.

Cel Damage is the only PS3 game, and it's one of only 4 Vita games, making 4 total for anything other than PS4. Very retro.

  • +1

    Metal Slug!

  • What's the diff between a "Game" and a "PSN Game"?

    • -2

You can call game something on disc, psn game is to download from Ps store. Wanna talk about pizza?

  • Have the old PS2 Rockstar games like Red Dead Revolver and The Warriors ever been more than 40% off? I wouldn't mind playing them again but even $14 is still way too much when they havent even been remastered.
