iOS 'other' taking up space?

Partners iPhone 6s is still working well, and want to update to new iOS. However, there isn't enough space.

Tried all the online tips (backed up all photos/apps, then deleted. Cleared all browser cache data). 'Other' is still showing 6gb used.

Any extra tips to clear it (in case it's just temp files etc).

Cheers

My partner had the same problem. finally fixed it with an android phone.

    • Well, just did exactly this. A Samsung A51 for $390. Now to work out how to transfer stuff across. Everything says Samsung include a USB C / lighting adapter in the box (they don't). Got both individual cables so will need to go via a laptop.

  • I had the same problem with a 16GB iPhone 6S. I ended up buying 64GB iPhone X. Problem fixed.

If you have everything backed up maybe just do a factory reset to completely clear it out, then update the OS.

    • Cheers, yeah thats the final plan. If you do a full back up with iTunes, then it should be good to wipe and restore back to being basically the same phone?

Also remember some weird 'download a movie and delete' hack years ago (or something like that to create space)? Juts a myth maybe?
