Custom Mechanical Keyboard

Hey there,

A semi enthusiastic mechanical keyboard hobbyist here. I recently got into custom mechanical keyboards and their orgasmic sounds. I was wondering whether there is a store that sells prebuilt custom mechanical keyboards or stores that build it for you. Currently, I am having a great night sleeping listening to NovelKeys Nolives key switches and NovelKeys Creams. Budget $500-$700

Thankyou!!!!

    Nice fetish.

    • Nothing to do with keyboards but I also like clean feet

Isn't the whole point of being into custom keyboards to build it yourself :P

    • Yea but I have a history of breaking things

      • so whats stopping you from breaking it once you buy it?

I was looking for a DIY kit myself not too long ago and stumbled across the GK64 mech kit available online. Seems like a good board, with a hotswap board. Comes in a wooden, aluminium and plastic case. Pretty good for under $100 (excluding switches, comes with PCB, case, plate and stabs I believe).

But. I know you want it pre-built so there's this website which offers A LOT of options for the GK64, pre-built and DIY.

    Enjoy

    • Thanks for the help!!!

  • orgasmic sounds

    More like insufferable

    • You're probably thinking of clicky (e.g. MX blues) stereotypically annoying switches.

There are a wide variety of different sounding and feeling keyboards out there that sound nothing alike. Just saying.

Also op you're on the wrong website. People on here like $30 Kogan keyboards due to the price. Check out aumk on facebook, they have a discord too.

      • Honestly I would buy a mechanical keyboard if I could find one that's properly low profile, non-clicky, with Mac keycaps and under $100. I hate the bulkiness of most mechanical keyboards.

Also don't like keycap fonts and brand logos that scream "I'm a 12 year old gamer."

I'm yet to find one that fits the bill.

        • I don't think that you will ever find something that meets that requirement, in the current market.. At least not for $100 or less.

You can certainly find decent enough mechanical keyboards around the $100 mark, and you can silence them cheaply, but your big limiting requirement is the low profile part. There just isn't as much of a market for it.

        • Check out the keychron boards, not generally under 100$ but around 130-150 from mwave or overseas. You can get them with low profile gateron switches. Not as low profile as say a laptop keyboard but still quite a bit lower than the standard mechanical switch.

  • There are plenty of customs mechanical keyboard vendors, some of them might also offer pre-build services. Check this out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NeT1qg5mcukj6n2cXv28…
