20% off Philips Hue: e.g. Dimmer Switch $28, Garnea Downlight $55, 2m Lightstrip $99 @ JB Hi-Fi

410

Catalogue sale starting today.

The Garnea 7W 90mm downlights are the cheapest I've seen them (normally $69, and the best other deal was 4 for $239). Bunnings hasnt yet dropped its prices for them it seems, so I managed to PB to $49.50 today. Amazon also dropped its price for them today to match JB at $55.

EDIT 22/6 Amazon is now $49.40 for the Garneas, so find a Bunnings with stock and price beat to $44.46!

Prices on other Hue items aren't nearly has good as recent deals like the Target clearance on globes/starter kits, and some of the Amazon specials. But handy if you're in the market/need and can stack with a 5% off discount gift card.

  • Definitely worth Price Beat at Bunnings, i got some light strips today. Dont forget to check for stock at your local Bunnings first, stock is quite limited.

    • Never understood paying $100 + for 2m of lightstrip. Aliexpress has 5m rolls for like $20 for the high cri strips. Add a controller for 10 and your away

      • i only paid $90 =D, i mainly got it for the smart features, being able to set brightness through routines at night. and the high lumens output is great, 1600 lumens. along with warranty from Bunnings.

        • Warranty is definitely a plus. Check out Home Assistant for your automation needs. Little complex to get started, but once you go down the rabbit hole, home automation starts looking rather cost effective…

Can anyone who has the downlight advise if these are marked as safe for covering with ceiling insulation? Otherwise the additional cost of heating due to heat loss around the fitting might be more than the saving on this deal.

  • A couple of the items are stil cheaper at EB Games if you want to try a Bunnings PM. Motion sensor $39/$59, dimmer switch $29/34. They've matched the colour bulb at $59.

  • I think Pillips are gearing up to roll out 2nd Gen Items

    • I dont know how important the bridge is with the Philips Hue, but I read today that the bridge is about to stop working with Google Assistant. It looks like they are dropping support for version 1 - https://9to5google.com/2020/06/19/philips-hue-v1-google-assi…

      • thank god it i have bridge 2 ;)

      • The bridge is 100% required for Hue lights. But the old bridge is super old, everything you see ATM is 2.0

The third gen lights are rolling out now, only difference is some are slightly brighter and they have bluetooth (so no hub required).

Bought 5 Philips Hue Garnea at AmazonAU for $55 each x 5pcs (maximum) = $275. There is a promo of additional 20% if you buy an Echo device. So, I added an Echo Dot 3rd Gen with my order ($49 on special discount) - so all in all, 5x Philips hue Garnea + 1x Echo Dot = $269. Unsure if this will be with cashback too. Then possibly sell the echo dot.

Alternatively, as per OP, PB with Bunnings on JB Hifi for $49.50 a piece on garnea. If from Perth, from memory Cannington, Maddington and EVP is out of stock. Harrisdale and Belmont <4pcs.

    Cheers OP for posting.

  • Might look at picking up 4 of the Garnea tomorrow at Bunnings. I've never actually done PB at Bunnings before. Do I just mention that JB have them for $55 at the check out and they should automatically give me the better price or what?

    • Yes. I usually just show them the link on my phone and they just cross check.

  • You can build a 2m led strip for 20 bucks yourself. Google wled

Dimmer is now $23.40 at Amazon for those following comments and are still looking plus a lot of other Hue stuff on sale.

$49.40 for the Garneas also as OP has already mentioned in the updated deal description.

  • Bloody hell JB just pulled out Philips Hue Go ($119) which was still on site yesterday on the weekend.

  • Can anybody advice if the Philips Hue Smart Bridge is required along with the Philips Hue Garnea Downlight for using Alexa Voice Commands?
