  • Excellent deals this week. First is the Magnum now the Cornetto

still finishing the previous deal lol!

the cones on these are amazing, they must have got some frozen crunchy cone recipe because the nestle ones are always soggy and soft.

      • Their cones are much better than the Drumstick ones. I reckon so as well, they must have some special recipe.

  • Those classic cornetto's have lots of boring bits.

    • I found the ice cream is more watery/icy on the "no boring bits" varieties. Not as creamy as the classic Cornettos or Drumsticks.

  • Nice selection of orange juice OP.

sure mate, i don't take cheap OJ

      • Nudie is so good! I love their apple juice too

  • Just to compare; a bargain price in the UK for 6pk Magnum classics is $1.19 (£0.75). The NORMAL price is about $4.74.

Of course, these must be ice creams built for Australian conditions …. yep, that's why they are so much more ….

    • unfortunately, in australia most of the wages are similar as we have strong union in the labor market.
in europe, some of european countries, you can have cheap labour, then production cost can be cheaper and market in europe is much bigger than australian market.

      • Both Australia and UK have comparable minimum wages. While you might in theory be able to get them made in eastern europe, Oz could also get them made in Indonesia; and anyway, they aARE made in the UK.

Nope, it's an example of how food prices in particular are laced with high profit margins in Australia - partly because nobody has ever taken on the vested interests, partly because its badly managed, and partly because consumers are lax.

        • can't do that thing with indonesia mate, coz the milk from indonesia is not free of foot and mouth disease. and in europe they can transfer the good freely, with indonesia you have to follow proper export and import system, which cause extra cost again.

in europe they can produce product for 200 million market, in australia, they only produce for 20 million market. if you ever work in the manufacture industry you will know the unit cost to produce more item is cheaper than to produce less item.

    • Yes but who wants to eat ice cream in the weather of the UK :(

      • I do mate :)

For those who are interested at Foodworks its $3.99 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54659) deal posted.
I'm not sure if its nation wide though but it is in Melbourne.

    • is $3.99 in Brisbane too

    • That's weird, because it was actually $3.99 at woolworths.

      • 4 pack yes 3.99, but 6 pack is 4.99

        • I bought the 6 pack for $3.99 the other day at Woolies.

  • Great deal, but:

Why the hell would you buy that white bread? That is madness, use the money you save and get some good bread, wholemeal or with grains. I can't believe anyone buys that crappy bread.

    • my son like go to the lake and feed the bird and fish around there.

    • First I thought your comment was totally irrelevant. Suddenly I thought of the uploaded receipt and… bingo lol.

      • I'm glad someone clarified that - my brain was starting to hurt. lol

      • so u guys think that my son feed the birds and fish with cornetto? lol

    • Must admit my first thought when I saw the receipt was the same.
