Well, we can all find out if OzB readers are just people waiting in line at Centrelink

        Why?
There is no point participating in a poll if we don't know what the purpose is.

Theres fantastic prizes given away at random

Au contraire, research is less subject to demand characteristics when participants cannot hope to know the purpose of the study.

    Legal and legit employment

where's the option for illegal and fake employment? asking for a friend 😂

    • I see youve never met the self employed/sole trader before

    • so Drug Dealers also "other" then yeah?

  • What about legal and legitimate investments? Your ‘other’ option seems to imply shady dealings, but there are more ways to gain income than just employment.

losing my 'morality' and reselling hard to find goods- (not essential items i'm not that much of an a-hat).
property investment robbing from first home buyers and the next generation.

    • property investment robbing from first home buyers and the next generation.

Depends on timing/circumstances of your purchase(s). You could be funding my/savvy investors' early retirement.

      • Ideally you want to be that investor in the first place.

        • I meant that I could have sold you that property for a high price, which I bought for a much lower price.

          • @ihbh: That's the whole point.
You sell it to me at a high price, then I sell it for an even higher price.
Government injects incentives to stimulate more buying along with cheap credit and I increase my price again.
Now I use that gain and buy more properties increasing the prices again.
            Rinse and repeat.

            • @dasher86:

That's called the bigger fool theory. It's very risky to rely on this. Experienced investors don't.

              Rinse and repeat.

Check out what happened to real estate prices in the US after the Fed dropped interest rates after the dot com crash and what happened to it before the subprime crash.

              • @ihbh: The question was where does your Income come from. The answer is multiple investment properties providing a passive income.
Lucky for me none of my tenants have asked for a rent reduction and most of the properties are almost paid off because I bought and sold when property prices were still rising.
I would be foolish to continue with the property market like it is now.
                So you stop and wait.

This comment shows that you're an experienced property investor. I just wanted to make sure you didn't get too cocky and lose your shirt.

    • Damn. I wanted that role, but by the time I was of working age, all the positions were filled.

      • Ahh so I robbed you as you appear to be the next generation.
Keep an eye out when the market falls. You might be able to catch it at the right time. I say might.

    • Investments
    • Superannuation
    • Pension
    • Combination
    • Pension

Pretty sure that's a government benefit.

      • Yep, but important to distinguish from unemployment/disability benefits.

        • Why?

          • @pais: Different age situations.

            • +2

@ihbh: Why does the age matter? Welfare is welfare irrespective of how you cut it.
