Did one of these about 1.5 years ago.

  • Do you take broken whitegoods into your break rooms?

    • Sure do, we have a washing machine in each of our rooms for the customers to hit and smash.

  • LOL what is a "smash room/break room/rage room."

Is it what I think it is - where people like myself go instead of leaving stupid comments on ozbargain & downvoting?

    • Basically that’s it, where you smash things! Video here

      • Are you the red headed bearded guy in that video?

  • Do you get many millennial customers or do they prefer to smash avo’s at home?

Here’s our stats that I did during covid lockdown.

      Gender Percentage
      Male 37.87%
      Female 62.13%

      Age Group Percentage
      12-17 5.86%
      18-25 42.33%
      26-35 37.34%
      36-45 9.04%
      46-55 4.18%
      56-65 1.06%
      66-75 0.12%
      76+ 1 0.06%

      • Huh, the gender imbalance really surprises me!

        • +1

It really did surprise me at first too but I guess when you step back and look at it, typically woman are more reserved to the right moment whereas to put it bluntly, men are stupid. We will go to the pub and drink with the boys, drive home from work like a idiot, motorbikes, go in the garage and tinker with stuff etc so I think that’s where the gender imbalance comes in.

  • Can you link us to the website for your rage room? Has anyone ever taken their rage out on your when their time is up and they still haven't finished ragin'?

I need a "break from ozbargain" room.

    • www.smashlab.com.au based in Wollongong.

I have posted a OzBargain deal previously, I believe the voucher code is still active.

    • Sorry I should answer the second part of your question. No, we haven’t had anyone take their rage out on a staff member or another person thank god.

  • Do people also dress up like hoodlums when they want to smash stuff up?

    • +1

They get a beautiful bright orange jump suit, looks like they have just escaped prison.

    • No one truly knows how ACL works, it’s a mind field of grey areas, opinion and interpretation.

        • Brutal ozbargain at its finest tonight. The recliner issue we ended getting a positive result. The issue with the recliner was the opinion of each person was different. ACL kind of has no right answer or clear answer

It’s quite simple, if there are none in stock then you get a refund.

        • Well no it’s not that simple.

          • @Capo93: Yes it is, you’re entitled to replacement or refund. If there are none in stock you get a refund. Simple.

            • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: Or a repair.

              • @Capo93: Not if the item is deemed unrepairable under ACL.

                • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: Obviously but then you come to the interpretation of what is the reasonable age something should last.

                  • @Capo93: Reasonable age can be difficult but the replacement or refund part is pretty simple. The store had none in stock what else could they have done other then given you a refund?

                    • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: But when there is a disagreement on the reasonable age of the product and wether it is eligible for a refund, replacement or repair is often where the troubles start between the involved parties.

  • How much do people pay to smash things?

    • Starts at $45 for a single session for one person then goes up from there. You can purchase extra things like TVs, printers etc

      • It's a very interesting concept, did you see it elsewhere, or was it something you came up with?

        • Melbourne had it first I believe, I originally see it on Facebook many years ago, the original one in Melbourne is still there.

          VIC has 2 now.
          ACT has 1.
          QLD has 2.
          SA has 1.
          NSW has 1.

        • Smash rooms aren't new.. they've been popular for years…

      • Why does it cost extra to bring your own stuff?

        • We dispose of it once you’ve smashed it so we need to cover that cost.

          • @Capo93: But don't you dispose of stuff regardless? In a way they are saving you money as they don't have to use your stock?

EDIT: Although I understand if it is someones way of trying to dump a bunch of rusted old whitegoods on your premises!

            • @serpserpserp: In the fee they pay they still get their crate of breakables from us so they are bringing their items on top of what we give them. But yes we have had people bring in things and leave them behind that you couldn’t really break.

  • Smash room ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
