Have anybody dealt any business with them?

The reason of the question is that I started to feel something is a bit off. To start with, I bought a Bodyworx EX9 elliptical cross trainer from them last Friday, 7 September 2011. Initially, what drove me to them is their web ad of the model's ex-display unit that they have: http://www.workoutworkshop.com/online-store?page=shop.produc… - for $560, although for ex-display, surely it is a bargain (note that it is not advertised as ex-demo). The cheapest that i came around at that day was $640 brand new.

But then after several minutes of demo in-site with the unit and try out myself - found out that couple of things are missing, the wireless heart strap, and the power cable. Something telling me that this ex-display unit has longer story behind it. There is no box as well, but that is more acceptable than those two previously. Anyway I got away from it and started to ask about their price for the brand new unit. Opened at $699, after several minutes of talks, they gave me price of $580, with bonus that their boss (or manager?) Alex, willing to deliver the unit to my address. Again, I wouldn't say no to that price. At that point, Alex also told me that he will deliver me on Monday morning (10 October 2011). I did not ask any further of the availability of the unit, since I should be able to keep his words about delivery.

Now today around 17.30, I heard nothing from Alex and decided to give him a call on his mobile, and he quickly said that they haven't got the unit from supplier and on question "when will you get the unit from the supplier?" his answer is: "you will get it when we get it". Kinda rude? I was just asking for his now broken-promise. Then to end the phone conversation, I made him promise to update me by tomorrow afternoon, after he called the supplier to update him about when the unit is delivered.

Anyway, that call ticked me off - and did quick search on their company - and surprise2x, I found this: http://www.notgoodenough.org/viewtopic.php?t=15776. I know it was dated back on 2004 - but for sure that put me on guard till now.

So what do you all think about my case above? What action should I start to take now?

I do not want to act to rush, and not give Alex and Workout Workshop a chance, but i also don't want my money to disappear for nothing.

ps.1. proof of purchase is available if necessary.

  • Update on this case - I've got the item and set it up with no problem. Alex is really helpful actually on delivery.

However, the on-board computer (speedometer?) of this unit is so wrong. I could run 20+km/h without effort (seems like 7.5-8.5km/h on a treadmill) - and for 15 mins, i could run for 5km, again, without much effort (usually with same effort, around 2-2.3km)

    • I've been researching on the Bodyworx EX9 cross trainer and came across your post. I want to know what you think of the machine since you've had it for half a year now. Also how did you manage to get it for that price of $580 brand new? Any feedback is appreciated.

      Cheers,
      Dan
