    • Someone above has confirmed that it's an IPS panel with 220 nits.

  • Sorry for a noob question, but what do you guys reckon the battery life on this machine would be like?

  • Can I use eBay gift card from that Woolworths promotion?

  • I'd rather wait for an Acer equivalent with 4700U to drop to ~$1k.

  • Damn, nice price!

  • Can you please move this deal under "Laptop" sub category?

    • how to do that?

      • +1

Just make sure the tags Computing, Dell, and Laptop are all included :)

  • It add an extra 8GB or upgrade current memory , 2 slots from following spec

    https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/au/en/aubsd1/inspiron-1…

    • Yes. You can get a 1x8 GB DDR 4 3200 stick from Ozsgameshop for $62 delivered and it will be an almost perfect laptop !

    • Any idea if it can take 2 x 16GB?

      Is there a 2 x 16GB for DDR4 3200?

      • +1

        max memory: 32gb
        According to that manual

  • This inspiron or a 2nd hand 2018 XPS 13 for similar price?

    • With this inspiron you get a far superior CPU, but at the cost of a poor display. It would depend on your use case. But I think that the CPU in the inspiron will last many years and you probably will not need to upgrade the laptop for performance reasons (but maybe for display reasons)

      • External monitor, problem solved.

  • Reached out to Dell ebay

    It has a 3-cell 40Whr battery.

    • So what's expected battery life on this one ? Thanks

  • This seems like a good deal. The Ryzen 7 model looks alright. Slim and weight @ 1.7+kg sounds great for mobilitee.
BTW if anyone is interested and have access to a *.edu email, I managed to purchase the Lenovo Slim 5 Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD for 1262 @ Lenovo Education site. It got shipped 4 days after the order tho, takes a while to bake & cure.

    • Hi,
Can you please advise which options did you choose for that price. I am trying and couldn't bring it down to that price, and RAM cannot be changed its 8gb soldered.

    • I get $1349, is there an extra code to use?

    • +2

I bought it around 4 days ago. It must be an EOFY sale. Just tested it now without any cupon codes and the below basic spec comes up to AUD$1279 + 8! Weeks to ship.

      Ryzen 7 4800U
16GB Soldered DDR4-3200 (cannot be altered)
      1 x 256GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe NVMe
      Graphite Grey

Thanks. If it wasn't for the 8+ week wait time I'd be all over the Ideapad right away. Crazy that Ryzen 7 is powerful enough to replace my laptop and aging desktop.

      • Hi mate,
I asked the lenevo sales chat guy about your price and he said he can help if I have the order number. I know its weird but Can you please help me with your order number?

Really make me feel like we are second/lower class country here. U.S version is always the top priority market, top specs, top finish and lower prices to be more competitive, while in Australia, who gives a single F##K about it, AU market is smaller, customers are fuzzier, and more stupid so let us don't bother/screw them so give Aussies low specs, seconds with higher price tags to make up for other markets low profit margin. Seems like either we get forgotten/ignored, or we get screwed.

I mean, not only on electronics, but almost everything. Yanks started it, and rest of world follows…

    This Dell, as well as previous Lenovo, the specs that hard to sell in major markets (US, China, Europe riches), come to AU to 1,lower their average design and built costs; 2,make up the margin they missed on major markets;

To a fair comparison, about the same or slightly lower price, one could get AMD 4700U, 2K screen with 300N and 100% sRGB screen, 16G ram @ 3200, 256gb SSD …and you will have a few brands and variations to choose from…

    Just feel pity.

Australia does get screwed over fairly often, but in this case idk bro.
      Take a price of 840Aud = 580Usd
10%gst is 58, us gst is only 2.8%
      So us price is 540USD
Account for Australia being the second richest country (2% average difference to US)
      530USD
Add shipping and logistics to Australia, the fact that the market is way smaller (13x population).
I haven't looked into US prices too much but it seems pretty similarly priced.

  • Would've been nice if this had a 1660ti in it

  • I missed out on this deal.

PM me if the order was placed and would like to cancel it …

  • Has anyone got a shipping update yet? Still showing as not sent in my ebay.

    • +1

I just got message saying it's posted

    • When posted on Ebay they should put the Dell order number which can be used to lookup on https://www.dell.com/support/orders/au/en/aubsd1

      • I just contacted Dell, even though my ebay says it's shipped, the laptops themselves are not yet in Australia, the ETA on them hitting Aus is 29th July, then they will ship them to us. Infuriating.

        • F#ck that sounds like a sea freight shipment. One can only assume that all of our orders will arrive in Australia at the same time. This deal was too hard to refuse for the price. 5 week wait is painful, although not as painful as Lenova.

    • Says sent but cant seem to use the tracking number they provided anywhere to see where its at. On a positive side note, this package seems to have included a 15 inch dell backpack, is this standard across all dell laptops?

  • Anyone who received this yet able to give their initial thoughts or a review of how they are finding it?

      First impressions:

      • Build is good. Aluminum top covers for screen and body so the body is thin and rigid.
      • Screen model is LGD05F2, not bright or colorful, but comfortable for eyes. Review
      • Keyboard feedback is not enough for me. Keys are smaller than my old 15" laptop.
      • Sound is average, speaker facing bottom.
      • Very quiet. I can barely hear any noise during windows updates.
      • SSD model KBG40ZNS512G NVMe KIOXIA 512GB. Review
      • RAM model: Samsung M471A1K43DB1-CWE (CL22)
      • Removed/disabled most pre-installed apps to reduce memory usage from 4gb to under 2gb.
      • Battery life estimate when idle is over 10 hours. I got more than 5 hours after mixed web browsing and video. Turbo mode seems to be battery killer. Somehow HWINFO says the battery wear level is already 8.6%. I'm not sure if it's because of the dell power manager setting to prolong battery life.
      • hi M8rics

Which pre-installed apps u uninstall…i remove Virus checker only.

        • Removed:
          dell cinema guide
          dell digital delivery
          Disabled:
everything in startup and some dell sevices. I need to start them manually run supportAssist.

  • Hi op, got mine today thanks but it only came with a 45w charger. Where did you see it came with 180w charger? I looked at my ebay order details and it doesnt show.

    • I think the charger spec was wrong on ebay page. They have removed it now.

      • Oh well, they gave me a free backpack. So im satisfied.

  • I messaged Dell via Ebay and they provided me with a Startrack tracking number. My laptop is scheduled to arrive today. I think everyone should expect them to arrive this week.

  • Anyone having trouble getting chrome to run.?

  • Thnk OP…Just got it. Thinner than i thought.

  • Thanks OP. Got it on Friday and impressed with the design. Managed to install a Crucial 8GB DDR4 3200MHz (similar to this https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-PC4-25600-SODIMM-260-Pin-M…) and worked great with 16GB RAM. I found it a bit tricky to remove the back cover so for those who are interested:
    - The 2 screws on the sides of the heating vent could be loosened but won't come out due to an internal washer so I would just leave it with the cover.
    - The centre of the cover is locked with an anchor internally so you might need to slide the cover to take it out

    • Where did u get ur ram from? Msy?

  • Any of you guys that got it, experiencing occasional stutters? Hope its not just me.
