Windows or Android Tablet around 10"

Im looking for a windows tablet that can run microsoft excel.
It MUST be able to do VBA Macro in excel and it appears WINDOWS excel is the only version that will do VBA.
not sure if I want
- Dual boot os Windows/Android?
- Windows tablet (possibly run a VM of android on it to save having to dual boot..?)
- Android tablet and remote desktop into a pc to be able to use excel.

Id prefer an android but I think a windows tablet would be easier for this situation

anyone got any stand out tablets that would work?
looking for max spend of $500 the cheaper the better but would also go above if its a perfect fit. don't want anything too slow.

Would something like the Dell Venue Pro (11 inches) be suitable? I got one on ebay for around $300. Has the whole 2 in 1 detachable screen turns into a table thing. 8gb ram, 256 SSD.

Most of the Windows Tablets that are sized 11 inches (or smaller), use Intel Pentium cores.
The processor may be branded as Intel Atom or Intel Celeron chipsets. This level of performance mixed with 4GB RAM, 128GB eMMC, and running a lean Windows7 OS was acceptable back in 2010. They don't match up to current day-to-day uses, it's like using an iPhone 5 when the iPhone 11 is out.

If you can, try looking for Windows tablets that are 12 inches (or larger), and ones that use Intel Core processors.
In particularly, look for ones with 4 core / 8 threads (8th gen, 9th gen, 10th gen), something labelled like Core i5-U or Core i7-U chipset. Combine that specification with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD whilst running Windows10 Pro. This is what most modern day computing revolves around. If that seems like extra performance for you, just note it will be useful for the future, and will be useful to run the Android Operating System inside Windows.

It's going to be (very) hard to find that in the $500 price, so you will need to stretch your budget upwards slightly and look in the Used Market.

    • i have an old Acer W510 running win10 and that has an atom and is just usable so yes will want an i5 or i7
basically narrowed it down to a used Microsoft surface pro or decent android tablet and remote desktop in.
the more i have read emulating android is ok but preferable to just run an android tablet.

Yeah, essentially you have three options:
A - Use an Android 9 Tablet, stream Windows10 Pro via a Remote Desktop
(heavy software dependency, very inconsistent experience)

B - Use a Windows 10 Pro Tablet, run AndroidOS via emulation
(moderate software dependency, slight inconsistent experience)

C - Carry two separate tablets: Android tablet and Windows tablet
        (no software dependency, predictable experience)

Me? I'd choose the second option. Have a close look at Lenovo, HP, ASUS, and MS Surface tablets on FB/Gumtree.

used surface pro 2 will do the job, no idea how the batteries last tho, and they're a PITA to replace IIRC

    • yeah was running along those lines last night. need to see whats available. battery will be the issue with anything used thats more than a few years old.
