David Jones had some awesome sets including Assembly Square listed tonight but now all sold out. Really bummed but hopefully can get it from Target instead

  • LEGO Assembly Square
Seems that it’s already sold out before it starts.

    • It sold out online last Monday evening.

    • Seems bit odd to highlight one that is instore only and likely unattainable.
They have Roller coaster, Hogwarts castle etc all in stock, assuming no exclusions… they would be good prices too

    • As someone who doesn't follow LEGO trends, can someone please explain why there seems to be some hype behind this particular set?

      • I wouldn't say it's any more popular than any of the other best-selling sets of late that have been heavily featured on OzBargain (i.e. VW Camper Van, VW Beetle, Roller Coaster, Porsche 911 GT3 RS & 911 RSR, Hogwarts Castle, UCS Millennium Falcon, etc.) but it just happens to be one of the Lego Creator modular buildings that's still in production (most of the other past best sellers such as the Town Hall, Parisian Restaurant, Brick Bank and Downtown Diner haven't been seen in stores in a long time) and that has been aggressively discounted in recent months. Since OzBargain is host to a sizeable AFOL (Adult Fans of Lego) demographic and it's typically these AFOLs that upvote most of the Lego deals, you'll see a lot of favouritism towards the larger, more expensive AFOL-oriented sets (such as the Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Series, the flagship Technic and Lego Creator Expert themes) but that doesn't necessarily reflect their popularity amongst the general public and wider Lego consumer demographic (i.e. parents and kids).

In terms of design, construction and features, the Assembly Square is also amongst many Lego AFOL's Top 10 or Top 20 lists for best sets of the decade.

        • Thanks for the awesome reply, man! I totally understand the appeal of the technic sets (marketed towards adults/look more like a scale model than lego) or the large star wars sets (nostalgic/quirky), and I'm also an architect so I absolutely adore the architecture series. But yeah, even with your reply I just don't see what someone gets out of this particular set. I assume you probably wouldn't buy this unless you already had or were planning on buying a 2nd modular building set? From my perspective that would be what's needed to take this particular set from 'lego buildings' to 'ok now we have something spicy cooking!'.

Alternatively, I'm actually clueless about the appeal of lego to adults, and it's actually the act of building this set that is particularly worthwhile, and displaying the finished build isn't as important?

Thanks again for your reply, it was much appreciated.

      • In addition to Amar89's comment, Assembly Square is one of the top rated modulars as it was released as a 10yr anniversary special and is bigger than the previous ones.

        • Oh neat! Being modular, I'm guessing there would be an element of collecting this series and connecting them together or something. But what are your thoughts on this as a stand-alone set?

  • I wonder if this 20% off is to clear out the old stuff for the new winter stock. Im super pumped for the new LEGO Star Wars 501st Clone battle pack coming out this winter wave!

  • will the sale be online at midnight?

  • source T&C's ??

  • Where is this source for this? Nothing on FB, no catalogue with dates …

  • Tomorrow is where all the karen action will be.

  • Any of the Nerf guns worth buying? The fortnite AR blaster is still cheaper at Big W @ $49, but Big W nerf variety is low.

Upon checking, targets variety is just as bad.

  • can it stack with First Responders day?

  • Oh I hope they have the Lamborghini Sian in stock!

  • So we are assuming Assembly Square is completely sold out before this even starts? I can't seem to see any stock in store for this item anywhere in NSW basically.

  • Death Star looks epic but that price tag. Who would of thought 20 years ago Lego would be this expensive

  • Castle ordered. Thanks OP

Much better than the Big W sale. Site running fine without a hitch. Let's hope they can fulfil all our orders

  • LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Castle 71043 GONE…..

  • Ducati order got cancelled even it is still showing available, shit.

    • How many did you order? I ordered 2, one for me and one for my brother but it got cancelled, both of them:(

    • Make sure you use Credit Card payment screen, not pay-pal. Most cancellations happen when payment isn't authorised quickly enough and times out. Its still available, try again!

      • I am trying 1 last time, only order 1, nothing for my brother and see if the order goes through for the motorcycle…..fingers crossed

Update: just got another canceled email, only ordered 1 this time.

        I give up. Good night………..

      • which set?? i am not sure if death star cancelled due to paypal, if credit card will makes better
all other sets are okay through paypal
        only deathstar is the pain

    • Ducati available for $79 on Amazon if anyones interested.

  • I managed to get a castle. But all others sold out lightning fast at 12.05am! Keep refreshing or check Amazon - they usually match major retailers if they have stock :)

  • Got the castle thanks.

Anyone know a source for this one cheaper? Can't find it anywhere except for 65 lowest.

  • For those who have had success with these online sales - did you use a Mac or PC and which browser did you use? The PC + Chrome combo worked for me :)

  • Hi, 1st time buying.
From reading a few comments above, has anyone experienced cancellation after confirmation of order when paying with paypal?
I received confirmation around 30mins ago. No cancellation yet. Should I keep my fingers crossed?
    Thanks

  • Death Star, canceled me 3 times already.

    • Don’t try any more, no stock. I tried one time. Don’t want to waste my credit

    • Got PayPal refund email 3 mins after payment email. Do you know how long it will take to go back to card?

      • 3 days I assume, I got in trouble with paying by coles/myer GC where it says I need to call customer service to get refunded.

  • tried to order death star, got cancelled and refunded
tried with different address, and different account, still got cancelled and refunded.
    target website still shows instock

  • Order my items and paid for. Somehow chrome input my old address. I emailed target and FB messenger target. Anyone know if they are quick to response things!

  • It’s weird at the Target WS many items more than 20% off only way to find out is click the wrong price still showing previous to the sale .

  • I ordered the lego hogwarts castle. paid at 12.02am.
order cannceled this morning. after talking to them and waiting for an emial reply, it was cancelled due to being a first time purchaser and the amount of the transaction.
Since then, the website has changed and they do not offer delivery. Click and collect only…. and no store has stock.
    What a joke!

    • Oh no!!
I did the same last night, and used a guest account as I couldn’t remember my password! I hope mine isn’t about to be cancelled too! What method of payment did you use?
I keep checking my email waiting for a cancelled… 😔

    • Pretty ridiculous to cancel an order of 1 item because the order value was too much for a new user…

    • Placed the order on 12:02am too, but I used PayPal and chose to collect at the target local shop, didn’t get the cancelling email and the status of the order says in progress

Edit: It was my first purchase with a registered account too

  • No wonder they are closing Target stores… something seriously wrong with their systems when perfectly ordinary orders are cancelled…

Ordered a couple of different small lego sets. Took the payment from my CC. Name on cc, order
    address all matched etc.

Got an email this morning saying the order was cancelled (zero explanation). Had to call and wait on hold for 30mins to be told they are not sure why it was cancelled but was probably due to security "concerns" about the order but they didn't even know what those concerns were.

1 of the items now sold out, put everything else back in my cart but used my husbands name (only change) and have now got a confirmation email with estimated delivery date but I am not convinced they will honour my order until it ships.

Should not be this hard to give businesses money…

  • In store 20% off does stack with 15% off First Responder discount

    • If that the case using a gift card gets it down to 81% of Target price and there are plenty of bargain buys .

  • I just got an email saying my order could not be processed and that it might take a week for me to be refunded. There was no other info in the email. WTF?! Does that mean the items were out of stock or that my payment failed?

Edit: It looks like everyone is getting this issue. Total waste of time!

  • Hmm yeah i had my order rejected for the Lego Roller Coaster. It had been sitting with review as the status since 9am this morning when i ordered it :(

    • So everyone is getting cancelled orders yet it's sitting at 89 upvotes without no negs. Such a shame that you can't change you vote to a neg after revoking an upvote as this is a classic example. Target are just wasting everyone's time yet this looks like an amazing deal!

  • My order status says in progress and there's a consignment number, I haven't received a confirmation email though. Can anyone tell me if this means my order has gone through and won't be cancelled?
