Full Mongrel is my favourite winter beer. A well rounded imperial stout that, IMO, beats the flavour of more expensive heavy stouts like Descent. At it's single can cost, it's the best $/% for a quality heavy stout.

I haven't had Vale for a while. As far as I understand, Fox Hat is Vale brewers' 'creative' brand. I'll try the tropical one though, sounds good
Yea I second that, tropical ale is delicious. A good alternative to Stine & Wood Pacific Ale.
Yeah they're part of the fold now. I didn't go seeking it out, but had some Boozebud credit to spend before it expired. Pleasantly surprised, as when Vale Pale came out probably ten years ago it was a pretty standard sort of Pale. Tropical is a bit outside of the mould of your typical tropical ales like Stone & Wood, Fat Yak, Squire etc
so far had a slab of the heavy XPA and a slab of the red pelt which i thought was a lush drop - really like these beers and bought a mixture - looking forward to trying the metric IPA and stouts :)
With shipping the tropical ale is the same as Dan Murphys. Will they match the lower unshipped price?
Grabbed the full mongrel, hoping it's pretty decent. Haven't seen the other cheap brands like Hawkers or such floating around these days
The cases of Vale Ale seem a pretty good deal - I like the tropical ale, it has a really interesting undertone of something that is almost vanilla, which is an interesting offset to the fruity flavour
