iMazing equivalent for Android/Galaxy phones

My kids have iPhones. I've used iMazing to back up and move their phones and love it.

Is there something similar for Androids? I've used the Galaxy software and you end up having to basically set the entire phone up again. Also stuff missing in my experience.

Google cloud does that by default.. no?

    • No not really. Not like iMazing.

      • What doesn't it do that you need?

        • iMazing has all account information and basically "everything".

The standard google backups only have the apps, not the app data.

I have a feeling you need a rooted device to get this, and then use something like Titanium or Swift Backup.

          • @tonydav: The applications for certain phone vendors differ, with Samsung you use Samsung's own Samsung Cloud service for cloud backups or to backup locally to your Mac or PC, you use the Smart Switch software.

For LG it is LG PC Suite

            For Huawei it is HiSuite

For Sony it is Xperia Companion

et cetera and they'll usually grab all of the phone's app data that is not covered by Google's own cloud backup.

            • @scrimshaw: Last two times I used the Samsung one it didn't do the account information.

So basically it would automatically install all of the apps that were there before, and transferred messages etc, but when I went into each app I had to set it up again.

Not the end of the world, but was a pain in few cases.

              • @tonydav: Yeah I believe it's a security thing, you wouldn't want people restoring the backup you saved and then suddenly have access to your logged-in accounts like banking, Lastpass and email.

I haven't used Titanium Backup in probably a decade but i believe it may be the one and only backup method which would save your account info. Root / superuser access required obviously.
