Fixing a Tap (Bathtub)

Hi all,

While attempting to turn on the tap to have a nice bath, I noticed that there was no resistance at all and the tap simply kept turning, over and over.

I removed the tap and noticed that the black plastic inside the tap that is meant to grip onto the main, is completely shaved off.

Is it possible to fix this? Images below.

  • Yeah, the plastic could be the source of the issue. Treads look stripped. You could 3D print a new pair if you have a 3D printer.

    • Unfortunately I do not have a 3D printer.

Is it possible to buy this on its own?

I have these same shitty taps. Yes, the kit mentioned here seems to be only thing you can get (from Bunnings anyhow) that has a replacement piece to fit them. Can be a pain to remove the plastic from inside the tap handle to change it as well. Such a stupid design.

@dogboy: Yeah, the first time it shaved, we just rotated it and that seemed to work for a few months. I should have known better LOL.

        • Oh wow fantastic! That's exactly what I need, thanks!

        • Thanks for that. I could use the spanner ( on the left)
