Help Me Get a Good Deal - Optus Cable to nbn

Hi,

I've been with Optus for over a decade now and have been very happy with the service. I'm currently on the Optus cable 90. This is the current offer I'm getting:

  • Free fetch mighty
  • Free premium speed
  • Free optus sport
  • Free entertainment pack

I currebly pay $70 due to retention discount.

Earlier in the year I called optus to inquire about NBN and they put me to the NBN team (very different to deal with compared to cable team whom are international, i.e easier to negotiate with)

They said if I wanted what I'm on I would pay 110 with only a few months of free premium speed. Refused to give the retention discount.

So has anyone successfully negotiated a good NBN price with Optus?

Cheers

    • Sweet deal! Is there any deal for new sign up? I'm considering to change my NBN provider to Optus from other ISP.

    • Thanks for that, will give it a shot

  • Im in the exact saem predicament. Im currently on Optus cable as well & need to port over to NBN. Tried to haggle for the retention discount.. Best I got was 60 bucks for 50/20 plan & 90 bucks for 100/40 plan.. They did throw in Fetch mighty in.. But I think to get everything u want you will end up paying at least 100 bucks..

I was similar with Optus, and they didn't seem interested in offering me much, seems that due to their dodgy marketing most customers believed they had to stay with Optus and just signed up.

Ended up changing to Aussie BB when I went NBN.

    • Was also the in same boat when I was basically 'forced' to move over from Cable to nbn.

Ended up paying $10/month more for a similar nbn plan (which doesn't include international calls).

  • Was on live chat with a consultant today..

He gave me the same monthly fee of $60 for NBN 50/20 for changing over from cable. Usual plan is $75

No connection fee and and new modem.

This is the second time I have spoken to someone on live chat the lady on the first occasion didn't offer anything
