Netflix and Disney+ No Sound with Home Theatre System & Chromecast - Help

Casting Netflix and Disney+ from my Chromecast to the TV produces no sound when the Samsung 7.1 Home Theatre System (HT-E6750W) is on.

When it is off, the audio works from the TV Speakers (Hisense 75P8). Home Theatre sound works for casting Youtube etc from Chromecast, it's only Netflix and Disney+ that has no sound. Video works fine.

Anyone know how to fix this?

  • I had the same issue with Disney+. For me it was related to HDR support - it's not available in some clients.

  • Have you tried plugging the Chromecast into the receiver directly? (hmm might not output 4K video)

  • Are you using ARC function from TV to soundsystem? If so, make sure your HDMI cable is relatively new or compliant with the signal. I had issues earlier and realised that the HDMI cable was too old for the system.

There's a few things that could be the issue depending on your setup. I'd say go one by one through the things (eg. HDMI, settings) to see if it fixes the issue.

It's hard to know what the issue could be without understanding how things are setup.

  • Friend's Samsung TV does the same thing with the built in Netflix/Prime apps, wont output via surround.

  • Did you manage to find a solution? Having issues as well..

    • Hi, no haven't found a fix yet. I either use the TV speakers or connect laptop to home theatre with a HDMI cable. If you find a solution please let me know
