Selling A2 Platinum Stage 1 Infant Formula - Where and How?

Hi all,

We have 3 new unopened tins of A2 Platinum Stage 1 Infant Formula which are not of use to us anymore. I have bought them during a time when baby formula is scarce (early covid-19 days) and we were worried about baby feeding from her mom. However, our newborn thankfully progressed to breastfeeding and we are no longer in need of it. I have tried to sell them on gumtree and facebook market place with no luck. Facebook even took the ad down marking safety, which I sort of understand.

All 3 expire later next year?

Any ideas on how I can sell them? I don't mind selling them for a lower price but prefer not give them away for free.

Thanks.

Edit: I think trying to sell them is not in the right spirit. I understand that and will try to give them away for free. To be clear, I am not hanging on to a product that is unavailable at all - there is plenty of product in stores now. I don't want to get into that argument. Thanks for all the responses.

    No self respecting parent will give their child second hand milk powder. You know the powder is fine - but nobody else does.

    1. Approach Chinese person on street.
    2. Profit.
  • You basically bought insurance regarding whether the baby would feed and whether you'd be able to get stock later. You determined afterwards that you didn't need to make a claim and now want the premium back.

    Best of luck, but unless you can quickly get into the daigou business, I can't imagine the market for second hand baby formula being that great.

  • JFC how cheap ARE you? Just donate them to a women’s shelter or food bank, there may be families out there that really need this stuff desperately, and yet here’s you haggling over the price of a product you clearly no longer need.

      There's people out there who sell stuff on Gumtree and Facebook marketplace. Some give stuff away for free and others like to recoup some of the money they paid for the item. Nothing wrong with that.

        So say I bought a carton of milk the other day, but I won’t finish it before it expires tomorrow. Should I;
        a. Chuck it out (wasteful)
        b. Try to sell it (unlikely, given people don’t know where it’s from or what I’ve done with it)
        c. Give to my desperate neighbour, who is out of milk and grateful for it

        Formula = milk for babies.

        • It's up to you.

          Quite the price difference.

  • I would probably give them away to someone needy.

    I think the trick is to phrase a garden variety classified as a question.

    Probably to disencourage reselling baby formula to make a profit moreso than safety.

    1. Keep the recipt.
    2. Donate to charity
    3. Claim tax offset
    4. Explain to ATO if they ask
  • Mum.

    Put it on gumtree.
