55" 4K TV selection - Hisense or Sony?

Hi all,

We're in the market for a new 55" TV. After some research it's come down to these two models:

Hisense 55Q8

OR

Sony X9500G

They're within $100 of each other price-wise (at least at the moment).

Both are full-array panels, and we already have a soundbar so speaker quality isn't an issue.

Any experience with either model would be appreciated, along with anything you can find in the specs that would push you one way or the other.

Cheers all :)

    Sony.

I prefer their motion processing and Android TV is gonna give you much more smart functionality than Hisense's VIDAA thing.

  • Sony.

Have a read here for reasons.

I would always go for Sony, in my opinion they would be top of the top tier. Why I say this is that we had our last Sony for 19 years. We never had a problem with the TV in all of that time. We gave it away in the end as we wanted a smart TV, and the one that we bought was a Sony.

  • Sony - decent run out model so get it quick before all stock gone.

    Sony hands down.
Best upscaling in the biz still IMHO.
Also will have WAY BETTER resale value down the track.

    More reasons could be:
Smart home integration inc Apple homekit (which is only sony and lg at the moment)
    Android TV is great

  • Good luck finding a Sony 55in X9500G. I was about to buy one last week on First Responders Day with some JB Hi-Fi egiftcards, but the links didn't work (long story!) and now I can't find one anywhere.
