  • Nice pickup. Thanks!

  • I've been watching this, they've been dropping the price around 50c every half day. I was curious how low it'd go if it wasn't posted here.

  • I snapped it up at $19. Worth it.

Nice little build and great for the collection.

Waiting on the Ferrari F8 and Nissan GTR to arrive from Amazon too

    • I've bought all three too myself. The Ferrari arrived last week and the Audi, Nissan and Technic Truck all came today.

    • +1

Enjoy.. the Ferrari is the hardest to build of the three, but easily the best looking and most accurate of the lot compared to the original car.

      • Yeah it certainly looks like the hardest to build. Although the Nissan isn't too far behind is it?

        • +1

The Nissan is relatively easy in comparison. Mainly because the Ferrari has lots of smaller 1x1 small parts to put together and give the Ferrari the curves and edges that the real car has. Also, the mini-fig doesn't fit in the Ferrari unless you have them wear helmets instead of their hair (it's much lower than both the Nissan and Audi)

I've also bought a few very very interesting "knock off" Lego from China (Aliexpress) that also makes McLaren P1 GTR and 2018 Ford GTs that also looks really good. These are even harder than the Ferrari to build, but is really nice in design.

          • @bchliu: Oh wow thanks for all the extensive information. I've recently gotten back into lego cos of my kids.

I used to have heaps of the old lego sets back in the 80s which were much more easier in comparison to modern sets.

What do you think of the charger? I was about to buy it when it was on special recently on Amazon but on second thought it kinda looks weird and I already have many other models of it which look better.

Having said that I have recently bought the transporter which I have to find room for and buy a display box to display it.

As for the knockoff kits I think I've seen what your talking about and yeah some of them are quite impressive. Some are really bad tho lol

            • +1

@habib23q: The Speed Champion cars won't fit on the Technics Transporter (Different scale) so it will look weird if you have it on.

As for the Speed Champion models - there is a difference between what was released this year and previous years. This year, they have swapped the chassis to an 8 stud wide chassis up from the original 6 stud wide. The 2020 8 stud wide models (GTR, Ferrari, Audi and also the Lamborghini / Jaguar racing sets) gives a more realistic model and able to fit two Mini-Figs in the car side by side whereas the older 6 stud ones can only fit one.

The Dodge Charger set is 2018 so it's the 6 stud ones that makes the car look abstract in comparison. I'm only interested in collecting the 8 stud wide ones, even though a few of my favourite cars have been released as 6 studs (eg. AMG GT, Porsche 917 etc).

              • +1

@bchliu: I do know about the different scales I got the transporter for myself to display on its own. The speed champions cars are all for my son.

I have seen the difference between last years and this years speed champion models, which your right are bigger by 25‰ I believe I saw written somewhere if I'm not mistaken.

I think when it comes to all these cars some are better translated then others. The porsche and vw ones all seem to closely resemble their real life counterparts.

I'm thinking of getting the VW Beetle and Campervan next. As well as the Ducati which I just noticed is listed at $79 on Amazon right now.

    • I thought it would stop at $19's but Amazon I assume had huge stocks that they have been pushing out for 3-4 days , with this being the finale . Moving the price down slightly 4-5 times in the period .

I thought group B was banned

    • +2

ahhh, the golden age or rallying :-)

      • Also known as the widow-maker age of rallying.

The Quattro S1 had 592BHP and could do 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds with a curb weight of 1,092 back in 1986. To quote Jeremy Clarkson, that would have been "an handful".

They had an even more powerful monster in the works for 1987 with 690BHP but it was scrapped due to the Group B fatalities during the 1986 season.

        • Search youtube for the clip of Clarkson running out of talent in an RS200

          • @stumo: If Dirt Rally is anything to go by the RS200 is notable for not wanting to kill the driver at all times unlike every other Group B vehicle.

            • @Diji1: Tell Clarkson lol.
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHdcPGIaI7E

But the RS200 really was the cream of the crop, it was just too late to the party. In rallycross (where GrB was still allowed 87-) it dominated against ALL of the other GrB cars (Evo and modified) for many many years afterwards. Even against upgraded twin turbo Metro 6R4s and various prototype specials. Even today Liam Doran's RS200 was going to be in the top 5 quickest official up Goodwood but he crashed on the official timed run lol. Not bad for a nearly 4 decade old design.

  • Just missed out :(

  • Just missed it.

  • Gonski

  • This is good! But 76895 Ferrari F8 looks better.

  • what a deal but missed out

  • I think this is one of the best speed champions models. My favourite is the Porsche 911.

  • What an ugly looking model….

    • +4

Its actually quite a good resemblance.

      • Yea, not disputing that. It’s a solid design…but it’s fugly.

    • +4

The real thing is a fast angry brick, it's pretty much 1:1

  • So the deal was only for 1 hour?

    • That's Amazon for ya. It's not really time limited, they just sell X units at the lower price then it goes back up

  • +1

    • Yeah, I got the email to say that they didn't have enough stock and my order had been cancelled.

      • i got $5 credit chatting with an agent.
