Help - Cheapest Cloud Based PABX (Phone System) ?

Hey Guys,

Just need some help…. can anyone recommend the cheapest Cloud Based Phone System for my business
My business's are across 8 different locations and require approx 10 handsets per location (so 80 handsets in total)

I had a look at the monthly costs for each handset license and its approx $30 per month X 80handsets = $2,400 per month

Can anyone recommend anyone that is more cost effective?

Thanks heaps for any help :)

  • Are they all different people? Will they all be making phone calls to external landlines and mobiles?
I set up my work with VoIPLine https://www.voipline.net.au/hosted-pbx/
The callflow is very customise-able but a bit DIY and setup and forget.

    per user/per month
$7.95 free incoming including inter/intra company calls
$14.95 free to AU landlines (mobile not included)
$34.95 free to everywhere (50+ countries)

It's cheaper if they can/are willing to use their existing/personal mobile unless a separate handset is a must.
You can transfer the calls to mobiles but mobiles can't transfer back (not common).

That cost is actually very normal for a business with 80 phones.
Must be a big and thriving business, do you have vacancy for one IT guy? 😂

  • I think you'll find a hosted cloud pbx system to just work. You might be able to get the per extention cost down using software phones over hard phones but $2400-3000 a month for Telco seems ok when you have a $3.2m wages bill.

Also check out https://crazytel.com.au/business/hostedpbx/CrazyPhoneOffer/ as they have a nice solution where the phone VPNs to crazy to avoid NAT issues.

Also check out https://www.australianphone.com.au/cloud-hosted-virtual-pbx I use these guys for a small SIP trunk plan and it's pretty good too.

Anyways some other options might be hosting 3cx in Google cloud and have staff use soft phone you just need a few all you can eat sip trunks and some pay per min ones to optimise cost but there's more management over head.

  • or if you're cheap, set up an amazon aws account (free first 12 month), install freepbx on EC2 instance, subscribe to crazytel/siptalk and you can have pretty much unlimited extension, how many DID number you want, for less than $5 per number per month.

But this one needs a bit of work

  • I would check out both TPG and Exetel. I find their business products and customer service to be fairly reliable.
