Need Help Choosing an Ozb Approved Whisky as a Gift!

Mate's Birthday coming up - She loves drinking, mostly soju and beer, likes whisky but complains its too expensive to buy.

As a good friend like me, I am looking to buy her a bottle of whisky for her birthday, but have no idea of good (read: Ozb approved value) ones.

Hints I got off her drinking habits : she likes dry, Scottish whisky, and said Talisker Single Malt Whisky (from a travel exclusive 3 in 1 pack) is good.

I honestly have no idea what that means but my budget is around $100.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Get her Talisker or similar then. See below. It would be something in the top right of the chart.

If she likes Talisker like their 10 y/o something Peaty/Smokey would be suitable to her tastes.

    Other Scottish ones to consider:
    Ardbeg 10 y/o Single Malt $90
    Lagavulin 8 y/o single malt $90, or the 16 y/o is about $120

These are my personal favourites, not exactly within that flavour profile of Talisker single malts but o well, they are very TASTY never the less:
    - Glenfiddich 18 year old Single Malt (Scotland, $100-120)
    - Nikka Whisky From The Barrel (Japan, $90)
    - Starward Nova Single Malt (Support a local instead instead??? Beautiful Bottle, great for a gift. Based in Port Melbourne. $95)

    Hope these recommendations will help!

    Japanese whisky.

  • Game of Thrones branded whisky

  • I don't drink whiskey much, but I had Teeling Small Batch last year and it was pretty good. I would rate it better than Jameson. Within your price range too.

  • If you want to try something nice that’s different. Get a nice run
Ron Zaccapa Makes really nice stuff and there is one in your price range of 100ish please note it’s nothing like Bundy, that stuff is god awful.

  • Thanks everybody for the options - will go around with the list to Dan Murphys tomorrow to pick the nicest looking bottle haha

    • Let us know what you decided on, happy hunting! :-)
