Anyone Else Noticing More Victorians on The Road in Sydney?

I’ve always been curious what every state writes at the bottom of their licence plate, like NSW is “the first state” and VIC is “the education state”. So since then, I’ve been in tune with the different state plates.

Lately, has anyone else noticed a surprising increase of VIC plated cars on the road in Sydney? I haven’t even seen that many during special events like Christmas Holidays or New Years.

  • You just notice them a bit more due to the on going situation.

Just like vilification of Chinese people after COVID19. People used to ask where Asians were from, now they don't even ask but run the other way.

  • I've seen a lot of WA plates recently. One of them being a work colleague explained he does it for cheaper registration. I'm pretty sure there's a requirement to convert to NSW if you're living here for a large portion of the year, seems only fair.

  • I too am someone who notices numberplates. I was down the South Coast over the weekend and thought I saw heaps, but they could have been ACT number plates too as both are blue on white. I definetly saw some, more than I expected to see given the closed border. Perhaps they were slowly making their way home? Who knows…

If it is south coast, it is most likely ACT, being school holidays and the closest beach

  • One thing to factor in is a huge bulk of the rent fleet has VIC plates. Next time you rent a vehicle from one of the major companies take a look at all their plates.

  • Victoria the nanny state
