No Signal on Monitor after Successful Start up

I have an old pc that I recently tried to use. After successful boot up. I can see the main screen page but as soon as I move mouse for some reason monitor goes no signal within few seconds. It works fine in safe mode. I thought maybe it's a software problem. So I installed a fresh windows 10. But problem persists. I tried changing resolution to minimum. I don't how to diagnose this problem except to ask for help.
Will be greatly appreciated if anyone has experienced similar problem or any suggestions?

  • Is it only happening to that PC?
Does the problem occur with another device?
If you can log in without using your mouse (use tab to navigate) try to reinstall the display drivers and install some remote access software (e.g. TeamViewer) so you can temporarily use the device to run diagnostics

  • +1

    Nice user name…

  • Its a common problem with nvidia cards, there are dozens of possible causes, very hard to fix. Its usually happens with the nvidia drivers installed.

    • Do you recommend replacing video card?

  • Depending on how old and what motherboard you have it's hit and miss bit I have had this issue on a few occasions on different machines and found after much faffing that pulling and resetting the cmos battery miraculously solved it. Can't hurt to try. Good luck

    • Thank you will try that
