    Not the best price.

    Please post the best price.

    • Probably the best price at the moment

  • Woah… Sold out already… Sorry I didn't post quick enough… LOL…

  • +1

Becoming very rare, will likely be retried soon

  • +1

Sold out at that price? Yeesh.

    • +3

It's Amazon, there were probably 2 at that price

Man I used to buy things like this more in the past (UCS Slave 1, X-Wing, Saturn V, rare Ideas builds)… then realised I have no space for this stuff and LEGO looks old very quick, especially white blocks.
Good luck to those who collect these things, hope you’ve all the space for it!!

Good deal anyway, if you can get stock

    • I only collect the pirate ships, I have 4 sets boxed for this reason. One day ill buy a house to accommodate my lego :-)

      • +1

        I do too. I build mine and have 8 now . :-)

        • awesome! I wish i had the space for them!

    • +1

Keep in a glass cabinet and most importantly out of direct sun and it'll look good for years, it's the UV that yellows light colors

    • real estate agents should stock up and give out to the potential clients for free…

then realised I have no space for this stuff and LEGO looks old very quick, especially white blocks.

      And this is relevant how?

So because you've grown sick of your hobby, other people can't find enjoyment in Lego? Solid argument.

It's not rocket science; get some glass display cabinets to keep the dust off your sets and keep them out of the sun. Lego lasts forever when properly cared for.

      • So because you've grown sick of your hobby, other people can't find enjoyment in Lego? Solid argument.

Lol so sensitive. Where did I say this, or even imply it? I did no such thing, I genuinely wished those who collect it the best.

        • -3

Nothing to do with being sensitive; it's just your pointless, captain obvious remarks add nothing of value to the discussion.

Yes, large Lego sets take up a lot of space. Thank you Sherlock for alerting the community to that important fact they couldn't figure out on their own.

No, Lego does not "look old very quick", it's probably the only toy that will last a lifetime these days. Bricks from the 1960s still connect perfectly with bricks manufactured in 2020. Naturally, if you expose white Lego pieces to sunlight a lot, they can yellow, but that's just a case of you being rather thick than a fault of Lego's design or manufacturing process.

Just fyi I have 30 year old sets that look like new. Mainly just UV light that discolours them (sunlight mostly) over the years. i keep mine out of the sunlight and they're all fine.

      • That's just it; my UCS X-Wing never had direct sunlight, but started yellowing. The pieces definitely don't look new anymore :(

        • +1

Well, you do say no ‘direct sunlight’. After several years, even non-direct sunlight has a significant amount of UV. As an example, a room with non-blackout blinds completely closed still lets in enough UV to fade colours from paper after 5 years (this was a test I did). A light other than LED (incandescent / fluorescent etc.) would also do similar but slower, as the UV isn’t as strong. I have only LEDs in my house (not just for this reason) and collector items in the theatre room (no windows). It’s not for everyone, but it means nothing fades.

          • @Mortal Krumpet: yeah that's just not the effort I want to put into this hobby :)
Good luck to those that do!

  • …damn. was real keen to drop 1K on this /s

    • It doesn't hurt when the cost is insignificant. Not /s

….good for those 'adults' that can afford exorbitantly overpriced plastic toys!

        • Which it is probably more aimed at to be honest.

Though in my time I have seen some ridiculous purchases for children by some crazy and often not wealthy parents .

  • +2

    Expensive toy

  • No R2D2 :-(

    • R2D2 was usually with Luke…

  • I know this is the post-covid price and none of us own a time machine but knowing it was often on sale at sub $900 pre-covid, I don't think it's worth spending this much.

    • +4

I think it was only on sale at that price maybe once or twice. "Often" is a stretch. Also this set is about to retire - so any discount is good.

      • By just clicking on the related products link at the top I can count there were like 10 posts with prices around $900 and plenty of other posts at around $1000. And this set may retire soon but it's not listed as retiring soon on the official Lego shop although I can imagine stock running low in this climate (as it's temporarily out of stock).

  • Back in stock

    • And gone again
