Monitor Arm Recommendations

hi all,

I am looking to purchase computer arm so that I can have more flexibility on how to position my monitor, mostly for height and distance.

My monitor is a 10 yo Dell monitor with VESA 100x100 mount at the back sitting on Ikea desk currently.
Preferably, the arm doesnt need to be drilled into the table.

Any recommendations on what to buy / consider?

I was looking at this
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B071HWSGPN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i…

but not sure if there is a better one out there and/or better value for money?

Thank you.

These North Bayou arms have been quite popular on Ozbargain. I believe on special these came down to about $30 each.

It would come down to how heavy your monitor is and how you want to adjust your arm. My Dell 27-inch was 5.6kg which is rather heavy (still under the weight capacity of this product tho). But as you start to adjust the arm close to the limits of its range, the arm wouldn't hold the monitor properly (e.g. might not hold the position you want, tilting back under its own weight).

I did end up upgrading the arm and as I found, they start to get much more expensive. Have a look at Vivo and Ergotech on Amazon.

The arms have been upgraded. Previous version was 6kg. Now they are 9kg rated. But still check with OP model data sheet how much it weigh.

      • According to the manual, without stand and cables,

        10.34 lbs (4.69 kg)

        With them is 7 kg.

I guess shouldnt have an issue with this arm?

This North Bayou one doesnt need to be drilled into the table, correct?

No need to drill but you get both fixings, including if you want to drill.

    • Does it mean Vivo and Ergotech a better brand compare to North Bayou?

      • It means you might want to look at what these brands have to offer along with what North Bayou is selling. They all sell different monitor arms. Read some reviews on them.

At netjock mentioned apparently the North Bayou F80 has been upgraded to a higher 9kg weight limit. I think I may have the older 6kg limit.

Have these at work, bought one for home. The thing I can say about them is - they keep the monitors in the right place.

I have NEVER seen anything thats piston or spring loaded keep two 24" monitors in the desired location without sagging or drifting.
