Sonos Beam Set Vs Polk Magnifi Max

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone would know the difference between

https://www.selby.com.au/brands/polk/polk-magnifi-max-soundb…

&

https://www.videopro.com.au/p-11959-sonos-beam-surround-pack…

Looking at my first big purchase for apartment and I dont have a large living room. My wife hates wires going around the house otherwise I would get a proper setup.

Thanks!

Have you tried asking your wife permission to install something like "Fosmon [3-Gang 7.2 Surround Sound Distribution]" or "Fosmon 1-Gang Wall Plate (5 Pack), Brush Style Opening Passthrough" ? Then you could use normal (decent) speakers.
N.B. those are just an example of what you can find, there are many similar options.

I have not tested the Polk so I can’t really comment on that but I do have the same Beam surround set which I recently added a Sub to it. SQ wise there could be better ones out there at the same price point but nothing beats Sonos ease of setup, tuning and user experience. I have a large Sonos ecosystem at home and recently got a Arc surround set for the media room and has absolutely no regrets.

And the best thing about Sonos is you can slowly buy another kit and add to the setup. I do honestly think the Beam really shines once the Sub is added as it takes away all the low-end responsibility from the Beam allowing it to focus on mids and highs so do consider that at a later stage. The Sub can be tuned and adjusted (large range of power setting) to suit your ears therefore don’t worry about living in an apartment and annoying your neighbours.
