Recommended Business Shirts?

Per title, I'm a slim (6ft 2, 85kg) guy who wants to buy some decent quality shirts. Any good deals going for some nice fitting shirts which don't take an industrial iron and starch to get out the creases after washing (something like am easy or no iron shirt) but which is still somewhat breathable in the Qld summers?

TM Lewin non iron shirts are great.

    • Perhaps "were" great would be more accurate! https://www.smartcompany.com.au/industries/retail/t-m-lewin-…

The online store is still operating. It’s just their few physical stores which closed.

    • Second this one. Charles Tyrwhitt are the same quality, but you'll probably find a slightly better fit with TM Lewin shirts as they generally seem to be slimmer (I have shirts from both). If you already have a shirt that you like the fit of, measure it up and use the size guides on each website to choose the right fit/cut and sleeve length etc.

Personally I stay away from Uniqlo shirts which others are recommending - I've never managed to find one that fits properly (I'm tallish (6ft) and slim also). Either super baggy around the waist or too tight across my chest.

  • A big fan of Uniqlo non iron shirts. Given it's a Japanese retailer, i noticed their shirts are quite suitable for slimmer people. Have a look.

Charles Tyrwhitt all the way. I've been on these for years and they simply haven't let me down.

    • Their slimmest sizes are still too baggy for slim people.

      • Yes, you need to be aware of this situation. I wear the "slim fit", but unfortunately would not class myself as slim these days. I think they have two cuts that are slimmer than the "slim fit".

  • I'm finding the problem seems to be the broadcloth used to make most business shirts.
It's a really tight weave and doesn't breathe or allow any airflow.

There is poplin and a couple of other styles of weave, but I'm really not sure what the best brand & style is. Maybe someone in the thread can suggest more than just a store.

  • Uniqlo slim fit oxfords are a good bet. They breathe nicely, fit well and look smart. Being a textured oxford weave rather than broadcloth they can still be presentable unironed-or poorly/quickly ironed. They're generally $40-$50 and come in a decent range of basic colours.

If you don't mind spending a little more coin I like Carhartt shirts for both their fit & quality. Round $120-$150 at full price but often on sale through DJs and Glue. They're good for checks or more interesting fabrics- denim, chambray, etc compared to Uniqlo. Being workwear inspired they're cut square and a little shorter so you may struggle to tuck them in if that's a concern for you.

    Uniqlo shirts are pretty good.
