266

Mod — from the reports I have this deal might not be valid. See yesterday's posting on 20% off of the same Samsung Plasma TV. I will let it sit under deals for a while. If I am getting more reports I'll move it to the forums. —scotty

    holy sh!t on a stick.

Is this for real (i.e. will they honour it) or is it just speculation? do you have a receipt?
Do any stores even have stock??

  • rubs eyes
    Really? Wow!

  • model number? link

    • PS51D550 ?

      • That's the one. Receipt below.

  • I think the $799 was the price when the discount was 15% off, so increasing the discount to 20% would not take it down to $640. Do you have a receipt to confirm?

  • +1

lol I dont think so mate..

I dont think it is even a clearance item, just a special. everywhere has it on special at the moment. its in good guy catalogue for $899 but they should be able to go much lower than that seeing as it is cheaper everywhere else.

Until I see a receipt I wont believe this

  • Please confirm!!!

  • I'm so confused! I can't even get it for $799 from any of the myer salespeople i've talked to on the phone… Not sure if I should make a trip.

  • No shop reference, no model number, no photo, no link. Is this deal even real?

  • I have pics but dont know how to upload and also I have an email confirmation

    • Pics of $640???

  • Off an iPhone

    • +2

Paste the email here, taking out your name and email address of course.

Then email the pic on the iPhone to yourself. Access your email on a computer. Save the pic to your desktop. Upload the pic to tinypic.com or any other free photo share site. Then post the link here.

  • I just bought it yesterday (and mike123 ordered today). Sale price was $999 with 20% off current price $799. See my post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55243 for receipt.

  • Just called Indooroopilly store to enquire about PS51D550 being discounted to $640… He said that it is not included in the 20% sale, as it is not a clearance item. Please get your facts solid and confirm before posting

    • Thanks drakarn_123, saved me the hassles to find the deal did not exist!

  • Just went to Myer Perth CBD, price is 799 "no other offers apply". No bargain.

heatshot! Looks like ya'll got lucky dishak, congrats :)

    • +2

I see you followed the instructions :) thank you for posting this up. Could you also please post the confirmation email you mentioned? Problem is most myer stores will claim this tv is not on clearance and therefore does not have a further 20% off apply to it, as mentioned by few users above. You certainly did very well though!

    • well done.

      Anyone else been successful?

      • if anyone tries myers at chatswood/hornsby/macquaurie and shows them receipt and is successfull please post. $640 beats $750 from good guys :P

I can see Constantinos getting into trouble over this…

      • lol, u got a -ve just for posting that.

      • It could have been any Constantinos! :P

    no deal no positive.
But you really got a good deal, grats

    • NO deal?
But then you congratulate him on a good deal?
I was a top deal, just not near you?

  • tried Bing Lee - don't have it in stock, can't match that price. So much for their slogan.

    • can you get it cheaper than Bing Lee elsewhere?

    • online?

I just visited Cannington Myer (Perth). Their price is $799. The additional 20% off cannot applied to this item. Please note that according to this Myer, the original price is $1199. But the receipt posted here is $999 (original price).

Anyway, congratulation to the buyer for getting this for $640.

  • LoL Liverpool store say the $799 price no longer and back to $999 price…

    • So did my local Myer here in Brisbane. Said the $799 was only meant for stock preordered while there was a stock shortage and had now ended as the stores have stock again. He even rang Jason at Myer Paramatta (the salesman from the original $799 post) and he said he was just continuing to sell at the $799 price 'cause noone said to stop. So I recommend getting in fast if your local has it at $799 'cause I've got a feeling a memo will be out by this afternoon telling them to put it back up.

      • no I dont think so. this tv is on special at lots of places. no one is going to want to pay more than $799 after it being online for that price and now in stores too lol.

if it goes up on friday, then stuff it i will wait for christmas sales and get a better deal.

  • Anyone tried in VIC yet?

    • I went in to Melbourne Myer at lunch… The listed price was $1099. Didn't bother enquiring.

      • +6

        "Didn't bother enquiring."

You have failed the first test as an ozbargain spartan. Your punishment is to do 100 consecutive backflips as pictured in your gravatar.

        • +6

Haha… In my defence, it was pretty busy and there weren't any staff in my immediate vacinity.

Regardless.. I accept my punishment and backflips will be done.

        • thanks for the reply Bensoin, saves me the trip from my comfy office chair here in cbd.

will try my local now by proxy =)

      • LOL I enquired there, and they said that they would match the price

        • Really??? Im intending to stop past Myer on Bourke st and try and get one in about half an hour. Are they actually going to sell it for this price?

  • sydney cbd myers? oh crap i will try later today afterwork with printout of receipt.

    • I went at lunch. When I asked the shop assistant he said it's not in stock and then walked off.

  • Macquarie Centre Myer still have it for $799.
The 20% off is off the "was" price for clearance items…. so it's only an extra 5% off for the clearance stock.
If you're keen, there's a Samsung 3D Bluray 5.1 Home Theatre which comes down to $276 after the 20% discount (floor model only though)

    • Macquarie myer for TV's are useless, hardly ever get a good price from them.

      • yeah the macquarie myer is hopeless for everything except womens fashion. men have hopeless selection of clothes and all the tech staff dont know what they are talking about.

  • This really sounds too good to be true. I hardly believe it.

"selling below cost - now 20% off the already reduced price on clear(e)nce plasma and LCD TVs, DVD players and home theatre systems. Strictly limited stock. Includes display models. Products may vary from store to store. While stock lasts."

Firstly I can't believe they let the email go out with "clearance" spelt incorrectly but anyway!

The above is directly from the email I received as a Myer One member this morning. That seems to indicate to me if a store has it at a clearance price then you are entitled to get another 20% off, hence, stores with the $799 clearance price should be honouring a price of $640.

    • Can you post the email or a link??

      • +1

Hang on will PDF it as it has my details on it.

        • +1

Myer could then turn around and tell you it's not clearance stock. The clearance stock is labelled/signed differently. But worth a shot. I might duck into Miranda tomorrow night and see if the guy there will sell it to me for $640 so I can put my Myer vouchers to good use :D

        • need imageshack, can't access upload.ozbargain. Damn you security

        • Hi Gail,

nice to know your real name carlenet :)

  • Rang up maranda mistake can't do that price

  • Whats happening to technology…..3D tv was like 3000+ and the newest tech just in the beginning of this year…..and now UNDER 700 BUCKS u can score one of these babes…..
Crazy with all the new high tech…….need to upgrade mine.

well tv's are not selling so well since everyone already has one, so they have got to come down in price to attract buyers. You can get a fantastic TV for under $1000 now, I dont understand the people who spend 3k+ on a bloody TV nowdays.

  • Insane… If anyone in WA can get this price, let us know!

  • Myer Brisbane City and Chermside said that the extra 20% off doesn't apply as this tv is not on clearance, just a special sale. Lucky that the salesperson made the mistake of selling it for $640. Enjoy your tv!

  • I just spok to 5 stores - they're all selling it for $999.
Then I called Miranda where OP bought his from; spoke to Richard in Electronics. It seems they still have stock - I got excited. But it also seems that this was a mistake and they honoured the price for that purchase.

The normal and current price is $999. Unfortunately, whilst the OP got a great bargain, this is not a deal that is available to anyone else.

    • I went to my local Myer (Northland), the salesman told me the price is $999, and no more discount, cant even do it at $799, so next time wont even bother go there unless it is written in their catalogue, also the games selling there is crap, most xbox titles at least $90, even after 50% off, it is bloody expensive for games 2 years old.

FYI, if you are in Vic, the good guys actually have this TV on special at $877, they can definitely sell it for $850, but you need more bargain power if you go for $800. Good luck.

      • For what its worth (which may be very little at this point), I actually decided to go in to the Brisbane Myer during my lunch break today and stood there waiting for about 30 minutes to get service… When I eventually did, I showed the receipt that OP uploaded to the rep and he said "we can't do that because it's below cost price" so I asked him if he could get close. He stood there thinking for a bit and said he would talk to the manager. When he came back, he said that the TV was advertised at $799 (which I was well aware of) and that he would do that price for me still, even though that special was over. I decided to go ahead with it since I need a TV, and am picking it up tomorrow.

  • Not a bargain, not available anywhere, was a pricing error, confirmed with phone call to store.

  • I also went to Myer Northland today. The salesperson said the best price she could do was $850. There wasn't any stock left but she could order it in.

    • so different salesperson has different stories, the one I asked has stock, but only willing to sell at $999, maybe I should asked the lady first.

    • so different salesperson has different stories, the one I asked has stock, but only willing to sell at $999, maybe I should asked the lady first.

  • I ordered mine today, Myer Macquarie. Asked for the extra 20% off and was told it was not included in that sale.

  • Anybody happen to see what Myer are selling the Panasonic TH-P50GT30A for ?

  • I went into Brisbane Myer today - they say the TV is $999, and not on sale. Sigh.

There was a Panasonic 50" Full HD for $799 though.

I went to Melbourne city Friday who advised that the price is now $999 and that some mistakes had been made at some stores. He then said that he could do it for 799 but no further discount.

I then tried Knox City Myer Friday night and they also said it was $999 and would not budge on the price. I also tried JB and gave up at Harvey Norman as they had it advertised for 1100 and no one would serve me.

Finally I tried through some connections at JB via work who can get things at just above wholesale price and they said they could not match the 640 as it was below cost.

Sounds like some have been lucky but I really gave it a crack and best I could get was the 799.
