  • ,normal sized 4/2 house

    Ok

open dining/kitchen/living area with a long hallway all in one to the front door

    Hmm that seems big

also 4normal sized bedrooms and theatre room 4mx4m

Ok that seems like a pretty massive house

just a marriedcouple living in the house

Such a massive house for just two people. Seems wasteful.

    plus baby one the way

Oh that sounds a bit better, congratulations.

So what are we talking about again?

Oh aircons. If you want full coverage of this massive MacMansion then you need ducted aircon. There is no other alternative. Make sure you get the biggest you can get cause you'll need it.

If you just want to live like normal people and have splits in your living area and two bedrooms (yours and baby's) then that'll be a lot cheaper at maybe 5-8k installed.

  • I'm in a similar situation and a mate who is a hvac installer came out and recommended a ducted split unit. I could get a 7-8kw split unit for the living/dining/formal/kitchen area however still need more splits in the bedrooms (*3) so need 4 units plus installation.
Having ducted you can add zones and ducts, it's all in one unit (for me main unit is in the roof space hidden and not in the yard), more efficient and looks neater without ugly wall units.
Having the single split ducted unit seems to be more expensive up front however more efficient (energy usage) over the long term. They allow efficient cooling and heating which is a big plus on my books.

    • Cheers mate much appreciated!

  • +2

Well done, You managed to keep everything in one sentence, Need few more commas though,,,,,

    • And randomly choose from the following styles:
putting a space before the comma
putting a space after the comma
put no spaces before or after the comma

      • Glad I wasted your time, making you read it 😂

  • Short term is fans and portable air-conditioning? Long-term is central/ducted?
