Convert flybuys Dollars into Real Dollars

Hi!
I kept stacking my Flybuys points waiting for a nice prize to redeem.
Now have something more than 60.000 points, no nice prizes available and I’m going to leave Australia for a while so I would like to empty my account and I’m thinking how.

I’ll never spend $300 at Coles or in fuel before leaving so I’m thinking something else.

The only way I thought is to buy the Coles MasterCard gift card (is it possibile to buy one and charge it $300?) when they will do again the deal 2000 bonus points per card then use that for everything I need.

Any other ideas?

    From the Flybuys Dollars Ts&Cs:
    excluding gift cards and smoking/tobacco product purchases

    so no you cant use it to buy a Coles Gift card or Eftpos Card etc

      I dont know where you are coming from, but my Flybuys account says I can buy gift cards for

      Kmart
      Target
      Super Retail group (BCF Supercheap, Rebel)

      20K points for a $100 gift card.

      So the OP can buy upto the $300 at one of those stores, which might be better than $300 of Coles Rice/Bread purchases

      eg Copy and paste from Flybuys

        Yep, I can do that but I don’t like the idea of gift cards as something that you can use just in a single shop, the idea of getting the MasterCard was good cause I can use it like cash with no need to plan what to buy and where but yeah, is not gonna work.

        I guess I will use as much Flybuys dollars as I can before leaving then keep what”s left or donate.
        Anyway I would like to use them because I’m afraid they might decide to make the actual points expire someday, but doesn’t sound like something that Flybuys usually does so I can even keep them in my wallet and when I’m back, in 6/12 months, they’ll probably be still there…

        RockyRaccoon: jimbobaus is referring to redeeming points as flybuys Dollars and going into a coles store to buy a giftcard and then attempting to pay with flybuys Dollars. They don't support that officially as the transaction is meant to decline.

        MatteCar: Points only expire if there is no adding of points for 12 months. After 12 months with no new points addedthey consider the account abandoned and close and void out any existing points. You could give your barcode to a friend/family member and $5 and say in 6-11 months time go buy a milkshake and scan my barcode. Which should extend the expiry by another 12 months. :)

      You can buy Coles Group & Myer card at these stores (just can't be at Coles), which makes the money extend to Officeworks, etc.

      Coles Group & Myer card can be scanned to redeem like a Coles eGC at Coles. You can actually resell it at 5% off (with no physical card).

        Officeworks might be interesting but I cannot use the flybuys dollars to buy gift cards so I suppose it’s not gonna work…

          It works, just not at Coles. Kmart may not even need staff approval for under $100 denomination.

            How does it works without the physical card? I had a card in past and I used to scan it then type his pin, how can you do it without the card?

              @MatteCar: There's a barcode on the card. Choose Giftcard payment and scan the barcode in the same way as a Coles eGC.

    I think you can still convert Flybuys into Velocity…
    dunno if that gets you overseas or a Flight Upgrade…

    i always choose options to convert my flybuys into dollar
    then my flybuys card becomes like eflpos card, i need to bring it, swipe at coles counter (choose pay by card) and enter my pin and boom it pays.

    i think can be used to buy anything (it is cash anyway) i have tried with topping up opal, buy chips, etc - only at coles!

    How do I exchange my points for flybuys Dollars (Money off shop)
    Sign in to your account
    From the main menu choose “Rewards”, then “Money off shop”, then select “flybuys Dollars” and “Get it Now”
    Complete the required information, and set up a 4-digit PIN
    Select how many points you want to exchange for flybuys Dollars
    Choose “Redeem now” and the flybuys Dollars you requested will be loaded onto your flybuys card

    How do I use flybuys dollars at the check out ?
    I don't have a flybuys card, just the barcode on the back of my coles credit card.

      Enable auto redemption in your flybuys account as you are a CFS customer.

          Auto redemption via CFS is @ Coles only, 2000 pts per transaction.
