I mean, I like the sound of free. But looking at the recent Steam reviews (it's gone from Mostly Positive to Mostly Negative), it seems as part of the going F2P is that it's now a paid option to play with friends.

Looks like F2P players can only play random matchmaking.

Seems like an odd thing to smash negative reviews about. No you can't play with friends in the free version… But you can at least play the game?

        • +2

Typical steam review bombing: mostly just entitled whinging.

Luckily the top reviews are pretty helpful and explain the situation.

        • Would make more sense to be pay for skins and other DLC like Brawlhallah/Fortnite though rather than pay to play with friends.

        • +4

I'd you already paid though, and they've updated it to now have no local co-op, negative reviews are definitely the right course of action.

@Nukkels: Core pack contains "Versus mode for local play".. Is that not local co-op? So how have they updated it to have no local co-op?

          • @Nukkels: But the people who already paid DO get local co-op. It wasn't taken out for them just because the new free-to-players don't have it.

If unsure, don't assume, just look it up. It's in the steam description.

that's all right. i don't have friends anyway lol

  • Hmm interesting

Are they're going to be a lot of "rookies" greeting these new f2p players?

Or did daigo father a lot of children like in sf v

    • If there's any matchmaking, they'll mostly play each other.

      • +1

        Ok
Could you please ask Ann - maree?

just another title added to my libraries

Anyone know if local multiplayer is available in this free version?

    • +1

      Nope
Need to buy the core pack for Local Versus mode

First, the core pack: this gives access to five additional game modes: Arcade Mode, Survival, the awesome powerup craziness of Boss Rush, local versus, and online friend matches (founders who already bought the game already have and will retain all these modes). Next, there’s a lot of new cosmetics. Players can buy (sensible!) alternate costumes as well as alternate (non-gameplay) animations such as intros and win poses. Finally, there’s an optional subscription called Fantasy+.

And the Core Pack is ~$30. Looks like the 'free' mode is little more than a demo.

  • +1

    what.. you can't play local?

    • u can… if u buy the add on that unlocks it

  • +1

Hold on, so you can't play locally?

  • +7

'Game now free' should read 'game now available as DLC'

  • +5

    Demos aren't bargains

  • hard game, so many moves to remember!
