Is Your Velocity Points Confidence Back?

So this month Velocity announced up to 20% bonus transfer points from Flybuys and most people were not having a bar of it - see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549247.

Just this week I have been receiving a number of emails from Velocity about more reward flights etc and it seems they're trying to rebuild.

Anyone have their confidence back to transfer flybuys over? I have 900k flybuys and was going to transfer a lot over to Velocity but got talked out of it in my own post.

I’m also planning on ditching my Amex Velocity CC and looking for a Qantas branded Amex.

    • let me know if you find one.. i'm in the market for a new CC

Nope. My Flybuys are staying right were they are for now.

  • I just transferred 102,000 points.I earn a lot of flybuys so it doesn't really bother me what happens.

  • Are velocity still doing Westfield cards? If so I'd transfer to get the bonus and redeem immediately.

    • No. No one’s redeemed any gift cards since April 21

My confidence isn't as low as it was before the acquisition. I'm still earning points on my Velocity AMEX as usual.

That being said I'm not deliberately transferring more points into Velocity.

With domestic flight redemptions back on does anyone regret using up their points balances on merchandise?

    • +1

Nah, not at all. I spent about half my points before the e-store closed. The main place I would travel to is Victoria and with coronavirus going on down there for god knows how long I'm not in a hurry anyway. Not really interested in flying anywhere for the next few months at the very least either. Pretty happy with how things have worked out actually.

  • What else would you do with 900k Flybuys points? The lifting of the transfer limit of 138k/year may never come around again. Take the punt and net yourself 470k Velocity points.

  • I’ve got 1.2m points - voted yes - got to be positive!

  • Likely to keep in Flybuys for the time being. I rack up a lot of Flybuys, but have stop chasing them. For me unfortunately Velocity looks to have been devalued. With the loss of the international flights, partner alliance (transfer) with SA and the loss of the A330 aircraft meaning business class is pointless. Add in to that Port Macqaurie airport (where I live) doesn’t have redemptions anymore. I feel dirty but dispute being Gold and my wife platinum of Velocity, I am now hunting Qantas points.

  • No and I am not happy that they used us as bargain chips yet treated us with contempt.

    I had 200,000 pts.

I transferred 150,000pts to get 100,000pts with Singapore Airlines.

So I lost 50,000pts immediately. If I transfer back, I loose another 50,000pts.

Not happy at all with Virgin, and will never fly with them.

    • Why would you transfer to Kris Flyer than transfer then back again?
