Printer Recommendations - Laser or Inkjet?

Hey guys
What is ozbargains go to printer?
I'm sick of buying cheap ones that last 6m, I tried a $200 canon pixma that lasted 2 years before it stopped feeding paper. I was planning it to last a while longer for that price.
Should I be looking laser or inkjet?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Brother Laser. Buy an inkjet if your lifelong printing needs total 50 pages within 1 month.

      • Totally this. We got a cheap Brother Monolaser and the toner lasts a long time. Our old ink jet sucked up ink just priming itself.

    Brother 1210W

  • How much you plan to print? 500 pages per year?
I always thought I need a printer, but I think it's just not worth it. In the last 4 years I was printing at Officeworks or my library only and spent about $80 in total I think.
But I don't have to maintain the printer, don't have to buy cartridges, don't need to deal with printer problems etc.

Just suggesting into taking a look at alternative options. Having a printer for me would be just more problems for no financial gain IMHO.

Laser. No more blocked print heads and replacement cheap generic cartridges are available for some.
They are for our Xerox laser.
Check availability of them before you buy.

  • If it's for B&W printing, then Brother laser printer has many options and you can choose based on your budget. But if you do a lot of color prints, then you could consider Epson Ecotank printers. These inks can print around 4000+ pages (6000 is the manufacturer indicated pages) and could be a better choice than color laser printers.

If you want to print photos, inkjet With quality after market ink. If you want to print documents only, laser.
