Cheap flights to the USA

Hi guys,

I will flying to the US late January for a conference. Just wanted to check if anyone has seen any cheap tickets lately? The conference will be in San Diego, but I wouldn't mind going to other areas in California (LA?) first and then going on by land if the tickets are going to be cheaper. Cheers.

  • yeah i got the same troubles as you mate… im planning to travel from the 10th jan til the 25th (to accompany my GF for a conference in LA) and you are hard press to find any flights under $2000 return…

the cheapest option i have seen so far is $2088 with china southern airways flying from brisbane to guangzhou then to LA, visa versa for the way back except for a wait at guangzhou from 6am til 10pm………. you can go walk about there or to HK but you need to get a Visa to get into china if you can be bothered…..

I've kinda made the decision to just fly direct with qantas return for ~$2500, i can imagine that the extra bit will be worth it not having to take so much time off and stress/boredom of waiting…

it sucks that if you were to travel at the start of feb the flights would go down to $1400 return… but that's seasonal travel for you…. on that note can anyone explain why is so god that expensive to travel AFTER Christmas and new years??? I dont know why i need to pay so much for an avg time…

psychologist, good luck finding cheaper flights that is the result of my research but there doesn't seem to be any real good specials atm for LA. if you do however find a good deal, let me know asap!

  • I hate those 'from' prices. Trust me the fine print is in the from.
And why seasonal prices are so friggin high is because the Airlines know they can get away with it. :)

  • BUT if any of you are a student/youth it sometimes help, also if you know you're travelling peak season, you generally need to book around 6 months in advance to get a good deal. All other off peak season times, you can normally start looking 6 weeks out.
