  • are these reusable?

    • disposable mask

    • +1

Yes, but wont be as effective the more you use them. They could even get to the stage where they are worse than not wearing a mask.

      • How's lockdown, JV?

        • +2

I'm not at home, I'm an essential worker.

    • Some people are advertising these as Reusable - But they are not, disposable one

        Yes, by a mod.

        • I was late to see the messages

  • Not sure if you should be encouraging free pick up in a place locked down..

    • -2

It's pretty essential stuff for pickup imo

      • -2

good luck to catch covid during pickup

    • If it's in your own postcode, and you follow social distancing, cleansing etc, it should be fine.

      It comes under 'medical supplies.'

  • I was listening to a podcast the other day and they had the inventor of the N 95 mask on. He’d been asked to find a way to reuse these masks and his suggestion was get seven and use them each day of the week and then hang them to dry somewhere and then use number one again at the start of the next week.

    Thought wasn’t a bad option.

    • There was a study conducted by Stanford University that found heating them to 75c can disinfect them.

      • I think hanging them out in the sun is a lot easier, but whatever works.

        • I don't think heating them in an oven is very hard either.

          • @Ghost47: You have an oven that goes as low as 75c?

            Nice.

      • CDC also listed 3 methods for cleaning.

        https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/ppe-strategy/d…

Moist heat ie a bowl of water in a hot oven is probably the easiest unless you have a ultraviolet light for some weird reason.

Alternatively, hanging for 5 days between uses in the sun would do fine.

        • so im thinking small bowl of water surrounded by masks in the microwave for the three minutes on high.

I'd like to see rona survive that !

        • There's a study that shows UV light from the sun kills the coronavirus in minutes (20 maybe). Going from memory, I'll try to dig up the link.

          • @TEER3X: There’s a study about the deactivation of the virus with with heat comes out of France where researchers at the Aix-Marseille University found that “only during the protocol of heating the coronavirus for 92 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes was COVID-19 completely deactivated.”

      • Yeah he mentioned that too, but they implied that would be more difficult, and ideally they had to hang in the oven, not sit, and I think they had to be in for at least 20 min.

        • Hmm fair enough. Thought that flipping them would at least expose both sides to heat to kill any bugs.

Who certified these to be KN95? Self certification?

    • Who certified these to be KN95?

      5$ for 1 Mask, these are 5 for $!5

      • +3

not if you pay for shipping (which you would have to, if you don't live in the same suburb).
$24.95 for 5 isn't ozbargain worthy, plus your cobbled-together website has spelling and grammar mistakes everywhere including in the T&C's.

        • Thanks for the feedback, We can see your point and yes we will fix it.

        • +3

Wanna-be-entrepreneurs Chinese ppl opening heaps of .com.au websites just to sell their 'self-certified' masks lately; have seen many.
So much crap out there in the market at the moment.

"We are Australia based company" yeah sure, great grammar mate, try again.

And here I am thinking why I love ozbargain so much. The lack of mask, toilet paper, face shields ads , sorry spam.

get rid of this shit pls.

Chemist Warehouse is selling Made in Japan N95 disposable masks. Very few stores got stock. 135 dollars for 30 pack. I purchased from Varsility Lakes, QLD. 5 more boxes left on the shelf.

    • Is it instore only or online?

      • instore only

  • +3

I'd like the negs to show a cheaper source and be useful sometimes !

  • I can't see a filter like we normally see in n95 mask?

  • I don't think there is an activated carbon layer -> https://cnxucong.en.alibaba.com/product/1600052860090-817865…
It's a 2020 company with a dodgy CE certificate made by the famous ECM. It's also one of the cheapest KN95 on alibaba (below US$0.3)

  • I’d recommend that all KN 95 masks are checked for authenticity. Most don’t require independent certification. While they’re probably better than nothing, you’d have to wonder why they still are available in Australia.
