Has anyone used Mr Wet Wall products before?

Hello OzB,

I'm going to redo an ensuite and main bathroom when I can afford, and just doing the planning stage at the moment.

I'm wanting to gut everything, (however keep water pipes/taps/drains where they are) re tile the floors, repaint the vanity, but have seen this wet wall wall panel stuff advertised recently on TV. It's a vinyl panel, 2.4m x 1.5m that advertises as a replacement for tiles, no grout to clean. It either sticks straight onto plaster wall or over old tiles.

I got a few different sample colours and they look nice, like marble and concrete effect, but would be keen on hearing if anyone has used this product, or a product like it before?

It looks like it can easily change the appearance of a bathroom and make it easier to clean, just not sure if its too good to be true though. It seems considerably cheaper than getting walls and showers retiled.

Theres a handful of reviews on google, and most seem positive, but just interested in opinions and thoughts from people who have done home reno with this product or similar.

Cheers

  • They sell similar stuff at Bunnings. I used it in a shower in a rental a few years ago. Was pretty easy to stick up, however the surface needs to be flat otherwise it looks uneven. Of course you still need to waterproof around it and the joins.
Didn't look fantastic, but served its purpose which was to be functional and cheap

  • See reviews on TrustPilot. It is quite different from Bunnings’ products, which are either side of Wet Wall in quality and price. We have just done our bathroom with Wet Wall. It looks brilliant apart from colour which is different from the sample. Make sure you are not planning to match but rather contrast. It is cost effective, easy to install, easy to keep clean and 1000 x better than grout.
